I am reading the arc of Heaven by Mieko Kawakami that I requested on netgalley and my god it is such a good book! Mieko Kawakami manages to describe children and adolescents and their real emotions in such a vivid and real way that it is almost scary (in a positive way). She has truly become one of my favorite authors.

For those that now want to read Memorias Postumas, this particular edition is a new translation (which sold out in one day) and it’s just a very well done and researched work by an American (very much Brazilian) translator. This is a very important book in Brazilian literature 🇧🇷 I’m glad to know that you’re enjoying it!

I also plan on reading Brás Cubas this year! I'm brazilian so it's a must read since Machado is probably the most important and influential brazilian author ever, though i'd say i'm more of a fan of contemporary brazilian literature. For what i have studied he is really sarcastic and just makes a lot of fun of the aristocracy of the time. But it is subtle enough that the aristoracy read it and enjoyed it, which sounds just awesome, and shows to me how smart, funny and critical he was. P.S: I am also a short book lover haha Loved the video!

I just finished Kafka by the sea which I really enjoyed. I'm now reading The Starless Sea. It's a beautiful book, it gives me the same feeling that I had hearing fairy tales at bedtime as a child.

Dazai's 'Blue Bamboo' is excellent, such a different style from 'No Longer Human' and definitely underappreciated :) If you're interested in yokai then maybe you'll enjoy 'The Book of Yokai' by Michael Dylan Foster, it's a non-fiction book about yokai, their history and role in culture :) Good luck on your exams and congrats on moving house!

I really want to read Osamu Dazai. Actually I remember back when Pewdiepie used to make book reviews, he mentioned one of his books as a favorite. I think it was "No longer human". Btw, have you read Yukio Mishima?

Yeah it was No Longer Human he read :) He read tons of Mishima as well, but I have yet to do so -- hoping to dive into his famous tetralogy :)

​@@TheArtisanGeek I want to read his tetralogy, but I'm not good with sequels... I read a short story collection ("Death in Midsummer") and "Confessions of a Mask". His stories are very dark and violent. I suggest you start with the short story collection. Those stories have really stayed with me, something deep and thoughtful about them. I bet you'll feel the same.
