TBS Crossfire 150 Hz mode gives incredibly low latency. But how far does the 150 Hz link actually go? Because Crossfire is capable of dropping to a slower speed dynamically, and most people aren't paying attention to when this happens. So let's test it!

LQ would be % lost packets . long range data links all drop data rate to decrease loss of packets and a reliable link, very common . EG Voyager1 160 bits per second

Joshua Bardwell I'm not sure that's data. You could have had data by simply enabling RC Smoothing filter mode "set rc_smoothing_type = FILTER" and "set debug_mode = RC_SMOOTHING_RATE". Then debug[0] in blackbox will show you the RX refresh rate in realtime. You'll be ably to clearly see when the RX switches from 150hz to 50hz in the data stream to the flight controller. I'm not sure that relying on slow telemetry will show you the same level of detail.

i'm confused. I see people flying crossfire and its at 99rsi for ages, and then when it starts dropping off its almost like instant low rssi warning. With my r-xsr I am only 99 when its right next to me, and there is a more realistic gradual drop off of the RSSI when i fly away from myself, but I can get it down to the 30's and still have control of my quad. Whats up with that?

Hi Joshua, I was glad you made this video as I wanted to see if the issues I am having was systemic issue or I just had a faulty transmitter module. On the face of it, your results suggest the later, but the replacement unit the reseller sent me also demonstrated the same issues, if not worse, so I had suspected a systemic issue.

Update rate != Latency, you can have a high update rate and high latency, or a low update rate with low latency. Standard Taranis has a low update right and high latency, the inputs take a while to get from the sticks out the radio, from the tests I've seen, CRSF has lower latency regardless of the update rate (as do many other protocols, FrSky Taranis Sbus is remarkably high latency).
