I fly fixed wing, helicopters, and quadcopters. Why wouldn't I come here to learn and grow? Are guys who fly quads only into quads and guys who fly fixed wings only into fixed wings? If that's true for some, that's totally fine. But why would anyone assume that?

The updated segments are the entire ELRS segment at 27:45 and a note about ACCESS receiver at 10:46. Regarding the comparison between Tracer and ELRS at around 28:47, the reason Tracer has much shorter range is that it's using FLRC modulation instead of LoRa modulation like ELRS. The tradeoff is that Tracer has full telemetry, while ELRS has only rudimentary telemetry (vBat, LQ, and RSSI). The claim that ELRS has superior range and latency is not just based on this one test, which I pulled from Wez's YT as an example, and to demonstrate that the claims are based on real flight testing not just theory. Wez has done tons of apples-to-apples comparisons between ELRS and other protocols, and ELRS wins every time. However, if you need full telemetry for features like Betaflight Lua scripts or MAVLINK, ExpressLRS is not the best solution (today).

A couple of bits that you have missed with the TBS products. One is that they can talk to each other transmitter to receiver to VTX to Fusion enabling dynamic control, OSD and been able to update not only the receiver over the air but also the VTX. That's one of the biggest benefit's of TBS products. Another one is TBS also does PWM from 4, 6 and 8 channels through a simple adaptor boards for both Crossfire and Tracer. ImmersionRC Ghost is supposed to be getting a similar eco system to TBS, the orca goggles have a slot of a Ghost receiver for instance, but not much has been heard about it since. ELRS looks to becoming a great system for the future.

If I need to replace or upgrade my Jumper, probably going to spring for something with ExpressLRS 2.4 built in and use then-my Crossfire mod for any models that still use it by then, as my long term plan. Might also spring for a commercial eLRS module setup since I haven't really started my return to FPV in earnest yet.

Also Joshua, I saw you left a comment that the performance is very similar, this is because all of these systems use nearly identical hardware, on the tx it's a 250-1000mw transceiver with a semtech sx12xx chip and a stm32fx chip and the receivers are a semtech sx12xx along with an stm32f0 processor and minimal supporting circuit. The only meaningful differences between them are firmware and operating frequency.

Hi everyone! Hopefully someone can answer this question, I’m just getting into fpv so still a newb, but i enjoy watching your videos the most for fpv and other drone related content!! My question is, would I have MORE flexibility with the SAME amount of performance if I buy the 4-in-1 Radiomaster Boxer radio, and then purchase an ELRS transmitter to attach to the back of it, or is the built in ELRS Radiomaster Boxer more effective than the external transmitter, but at the cost of only being able to run ELRS? If so, how much better is it? I suspect that I’ll opt for ELRS for every quad I build, but having flexibility to be able to run pre-built quads is still also appealing to me, although not necessarily necessary lol **EDIT** Ok so i found the answer to my question via reddit and since 4-in-1 multi protocols have pretty much already reached their peak potential, imma go with that for internals and just run an external ELRS to be able to upgrade / change with the rapidly developing tech!

For me the receiver cost is essential. I would even invest $800 in a - say Graupner transmitter. But i loose at least one quad per year on top of a tree or roof and don’t want to risk my health or more than 2 hours to rescue it. Therefore i went to cheap bind-an-flys and won’t loose more than 150$ per accident. So i am not willing to pay much more than 15$ a receiver to stay in that budget.

I'm running CF on 100mW and i can fly as far as my video works. I've even had a complete video breakup while diving behind a mountain about a kilometer away. And when I say "complete breakup", i mean it. There was not even a shadow. No sign of life from my quad except my radio didn't say "lost telemetry". So I switched into angle mode, throtteled up and climbed for about 3 seconds to recover. CF did not let me down on 100mW. Imagine where I could fly on 2W.

Okay so I have a frysky qx7 accst controller are you saying I can't put a specific module on it cause it has that chip in it that I'd have to solder in a new one or something?

I have a problem, my range is so bad with it. 400 meters and failsafe. A new reciever and antenna are helping nothing ( other reciever placement too). I flasht both new? My lq is most of the time high but the rssidb is so low i have after 300meters -90 at 50 mw ???? Can someone help me

I believe the King of range is still DragonLink. Guys have gone over 100 MILES! But they are focused much less on low latency since they mostly cater to fixed wing installations.

Uhhhh 100km range Joshua ?? You know at that distance to need to be flying at 785 meters ( thats 2575 ft) altitude just to stay above the "horizon" caused by the curvature of the earth. Dont know about your eyesight to keep the drone LOS but where i live that altitude is illegal. ;-)

Hey Joshua, what radio do you recommend to use with the Crossfire module ? If cost isn't a concern.
@AlfredBroda
@AlfredBroda 3 жыл бұрын
R9 is actually less hassle then ACCST - there is no LBT mode switching (EU vs FCC) that can make binding even more difficult than incompatible firmware versions. So, either you use the old (OpenTX compatible) firmware or newer ACCESS and are locked into FrSky (outside of hacks). Thanks for letting me know there is Express LRS out there. :D

Crossfire/unify pro 32 hv/fusion is the best links hands down! If you have spent any money anywhere else and then got these you wouldn't regret it! So just buy them first

Thanks to you i finally made my choice on what module is should buy. I bought a TBS Tracer starter kit for my ACCST Taranis QX7. I almost forgot about the qx7 telemetry mod. I also upgraded my gimbals.

Tracer also requires the telemetry mod FWIW but Ghost does not if you flash the ImmersoinRC build of OpenTX.

Hi Joshua. I'm playing around with a cheap 2.4G wifi FPV drone where the there is no receiver in the remote controller - therefore no visible telemetry unless you also connect the smartphone with an appropriate APP (eg the distance, height, number of GPS satellites, etc). Can I ask a stupid question? Can any of these better RC Transmitter/Receiver controllers, that have both transmit and receive, be made to connect and fly these cheap drones. Only certain APPs will establish a connection to the drone so I'm assuming they all seem to have different firmware burnt in.

Not a real FrSky fanboy, but you were incorrect about FrSky R9 Access use in 3rd party radios. It WORKS under OpenTX on radios like the Radiomaster Tx16s IF you do the externalaccessmod.
Most FPV pilots need to watch this soldering tutorial
