@@K-newborn so you don't feel like you should care about what Jesus said about he's giving apostles power to forgive sins in the name of God? It's John 20:22-23 (And if you want to know, then yes, catholics do read the Bible, quite often, quite with love to it) I don't agree with your opinion, but still i don't laugh at you. You should do the same to us, and give some respect. Also, we, catholics, aren't breaking Jesus's words you quoted, in any way. We call no man by name of Father our God, and we also do not confess to men. In confession, you ARE talking with God, priest is only intermediary in it, without God he has no role in it himself. That's the reason why seal of confession exists. If we confessed to man, then he would have whole right and power to tell it to the world. But he hasn't, only God has this power. And he only uses priest to give you absolution. God just chose some people to use their tongues in giving absolution, because without absolution you can't continue in forgiveness. That's all. If you see in it some rebellion against true serve to God, then it seems like you only want to blame us, but not to understand our belief and why we have it. I personally see quite conceited to believe you can give absolution to yourself, when you just confess your sins in silent prayer. It's nice thing, but it's like regretting of.. when you hurt someone, without finding him and personally telling him you are sorry. If you're not brave enough to confess your sins to ears, which God himself chose for you, to hear you out, how can you dare to think that you'll be brave enough to say sorry, when you meet Jesus in person? I don't think God is offended when you're trying to humble the best you physically can, and want to physically honestly confess your sins to Him, even if He wouldn't tell us to exactly do that. But I do think He doesn't really like when people are quibbling with His law, and trying to find everything where they can cut the corners, and find some more comfortable way to do it themselves...

I'm LDS (aka "Mormon") and I was on the FLOOR with this scene! 🤣 I love seeing people's different takes and understandings of my faith on TV. Also, to whoever wrote this episode, thank you for being respectful considering other, not-so-respectful ways we've been portrayed. *Small clarification: the bit about having our own planets is only partly true - we believe that we will one day be resurrected and someday each be assigned to a Telestial, Terrestrial, or Celestial Kingdom based on our deeds here on Earth (all three better and happier than here on Earth, but each gradually happier and holier than the other, with the Celestial being those who have accepted the fullness of the Gospel and were committed to their Covenants with God to the end - but we also believe that whichever Kingdom we're assigned, we will be happy and content there - not counting Outer Darkness (not a kingdom) which is for murderers and truly evil people), but it's only if we're sealed for all Eternity in a Temple Marriage that we "get our own planet" and become Creators, ourselves. So, really, it's the husband's *and* wife's planet, because men can't get their own planets without a wife, either.

Christianity is not supposed to "make you feel bad", it has been given a bad reputation by greedy people within the church who were never Christian and do no represent the religion. They were simply con artists preying on good well meaning people. Now every Christian gets lumped in with these bad apples by people who think they are so much smarter than everyone else. As a Mormon that was an extremely weird and somewhat inaccurate description of our religion. It's just a comedy show though so I can still laugh at he humor of it! But no, we don't go to live on our husbands planets after death lol

But mormons do have a whole LOT of wrong ideas about God, about Jesus, about salvation, about sin and atonement, and on and on. Sorry, but you people ain't getting anywhere near heaven when you die.

Did you go to church in the 80s? Because I grew up the same time Sheldon did in this show, and the description is pretty spot on, minus that the info doesn't come from the Book of Mormon. Now, I haven't been to church in a while, so i don't know if the church has abandoned those teachings, or if it's still considered the "meat" in "milk before meat" that members were encouraged not to talk too openly about.

Correction to make here, Jesus IS God, his other name is "Emanuel" which as the angel that told Mary & Joseph to name him such explained, is to be interpreted as "God among us", if that's not enough evidence to understand who he is correctly then I dunno what is. As for WHAT God & he is, I've come to the conclusion God is the very essence of information (not the things we use to represent it like words & pictures) and as a result of that conclusion Jesus's statement that he is the "word" makes more sense in that what he means is that he is a form of information that represents more information which in turn makes his name "Emanuel" make more sense despite he seemingly being of flesh, blood & bone. The body is just another form of information and in Jesus's case just an avatar of God for people to focus their attention at since many want a leader figure rather than some "hard to understand" formless entity to focus on.

As someone who has read the Book of Mormon, keeps to its values, and is friends with Mormons, as far as I can tell, there is no talk of planets... I've distanced myself from their practices. But, as far as I can tell, it simply promises it's practitioners that if you do the right thing, dress modestly, try not to curse too much, and take safe/realistic precautions amongst your sexual encounters, you'll be okay in life, and helped along when you need helping... I've never heard anyone mention anything about planets.

The Book of Mormon doesn't say anything about planets, but if you were a Mormon at the time this show is set in, you DEFINITELY learned about becoming a god who would create your own world, just like Heavenly Father had progressed from man to God and dwells on a planet near the star Kolob. The same guy who found the gold plates also bought a mummy and Egyptian artifacts, among them a papyrus scroll that he translated as the Book of Abraham, and that's where the "get your own planet" thing comes from.
