I LOVE this pedal! It's very versatile, and the default settings are great. I mostly use the EP setting, then switch to the EREC for longer delays, and BDM2 for slapback, and usually don't need to touch the Time or Feedback. I'm looking for a pedal to use for my acoustic rig, and I'm really torn between this or the Flashback because I love this one so much.

KUDOS PGS! Years later and I am still using my V2 to great effect. Still finding things for my clients and getting paid for it. Any echos I want & I can stay away from modulated chords with the BDM2 mode (very good Boss DM2 model, especially with a single repeat...) Or have very pleasing, old school warbles. Clients are still surprised by the Echorec sounds. Some like it so much, I invested in almost $350 in an Gurus Amps Echosex-2 pedal that I go get and bring back to the session if they have to have more choices. Mostly the V2 does plenty. I use Andy's Echoplex Toneprint often. Plus for touring, 1. you can have two of them for the price of much less versatile gear from 10 years ago. 2. They are very rugged so far. Hey. You guys at PGS designed something that is standing the test of time.

Excellent review; it showcases what I needed to know. I was prepared to swap my Flashback for this AEv2, but I don't need that much modulation on each setting (even if it sounds nice and musical). I'll stick to the Flashback, it's more all-round.

tc electronic has the best delay algorithms, they just need to create a all-in-one pedal with the features of a timeline or TimeFactor (presets, sonic flexiblity, midi, expression pedal, tweakability)and change the pedalboards of all guitarists in the world

Had the first version and couldn't ever read the silk screen white against yellow background. Then got a Strymon DIG. How would this pedal fill in any gaps in my delay needs?

I have AEX4 and DIG(and many other delay pedals),the Alter Ego will give you really nice warm tape delay sounds,DIG will give yoy pristine and gritty delay sounds.

Hello, I just purchased this and have a question about maximum delay time. I only get about one second of maximum delay time on every setting. On the Toneprint I do get approximately 7 seconds. The manual says that almost all delay types have a range up to 7000ms but this is not the case. How can it be fixed? Thank you!

Is it possible to take out the modulation using the Toneprint editor, so certain models, when selected are non-modulated? That would make this pedal worthwhile for me, having all the modulation options available, but not compulsory.

You can do that on the toneprint but you can only change the delay you want to put on the empty slot the pedal has. You can't change the others.

Justin White Yes, it does, but I've seen some posts where you may need to run the software update. I've used the audio tap but I've found most all of the standard settings work great for what I'm doing on tour.

It is part of the pedal. The modulation effects the repeats only, not the dry signal.

Fly Lords Try unscrewing the back panel off the pedal and seeing if there is a small switch inside labeled 'trails'. I know with a lot of delay and reverb pedals, they have switches like that inside them. Not sure about this one tho..

Yes it does. You'll see dipswitches in the back and you want to select "buffered bypass" Then you should get your trails :)

Basically the delays here are voiced differently than the Flashback. This is aimed to emulate different vintage tape echo units and analog delays whereas the Flashback has "general" delay models like modulated, pristine digital and I guess you could say "generic" tape and analog delay sounds.

The presets are so heavily modulated, this cannot be only delay pedal on the metal. I was excited about the 2290 model, but so warbled it gives you vertigo. The boss dm2 is kinda nice, as is the echoplex model. Too bad you cannot tune the presets & save with tone print app. I had to update the firmware right out the box due to SW bug - tap tempo couldn't be re-entered after "boot". Dialing across several presets generates a crackle-pop which is annoying if pedal after you volume to get the tails on the swells. All being said, I would probably buy again at GC $99 special. If you like this kind of heavily modulated presets, you may want to go for X4 where you have 4 user settings to load or create your own patches, & use this as your primary pedal. All-in-all, I didn't find the sounds superior to say a multi-fx boss delays. I usually don't pay attention to esthetics, but TC does that very well. I like the way it feels & the controls feel like velvet.

Andy's version of Shiver is better than the original. Can't stand Cold Play's childish music though, however, Beethoven's 9th is childish at times too. Cold Play ain't no Beethoven though. Oh yeah, very nice sounding pedal.
