I use my DM not as a distortion, but as an overdrive in front of a tube amp, and I feel like that is where it shines. I have tried a few different pedals in that role, but the DM still holds that position on the board. I put level at 3 o clock and gain at 9 o clock. It saturates the sound and tightens the bass response without changing the tone significantly. The amp still sounds like itself. I really like this review though. You are one of my favorite reviewers, since you come across as level headed and sincere. Thank you!

just got this pedal. i use a soul preacher comp goin into a BcC steelpark boost on clean just to get a nice consistent tone, then into a klon cranked up for my clean grit sound, then into the dark matter , and it 3/4 gain with every previous pedal on aswell its perfect for pop punk, that smoothed out distortion with a steelslide feel. absolutely love it. if i turn the klon off im left with my 70s rock tone. taking some of the treble out results in a slight fuzz rock tone. extremely versatile eapecially with a few pedals stacked

I am not a big distortion pedal guy, but this sounded pretty good especially with the compression pedal. For some reason it didn't sound brittle on my end. Must sound different in person! Good job!

Yea it sounded ok on the video because I had the treble down to almost like 8 o clock.. maybe more. I didn't want to try this with a single coil guitar...lol. it's a good pedal.. But too much effort on my end to make it sound great 🤓✌️

Thank you for you honest podcast on this pedal - there's effectively a lot of noise coming out when you crank up the drive and I sure have to place a simple noise gate after it. I am very much interested in one clean harmonizer for choruses at the 3rd or 5th note parallel to my licks. Unfortunately I bump into the same fancy harmonizers with insane brittle computer sounds or detune nonsense. Could you recommend me one simple, clear harmonizing pedal ? like the effect of the NUX mg 300 ? - Thank you Jon ! you are doing great !

It totally does. I use a Paul Reed Smith Standard 24 into a Boss Katana on the clean channel with the Dark Matter. Works very well.

Great demo Sir! :) My friend has one too. And I cant barely hear the difference between the voice switch.. A lot of demos here in YT says that the UP position gives more Low End.. But in the manual, its the other way around.. When UP, the sound is true to your signal.. And the DOWN gives more Low End. Its kinda confusing... Thanks

Roswell pickups will sound good into virtual amps and moddeling pedals but less so into a real amp. That is my experience anyway and I have tried many Roswell pickups: FLT. HAF, LAF, the single coils in Harley Benton ST-62, the single coils in TE-70BP, P90 and the only one that I kind of liked was the HAF neck pickup. The worse were the LAF pickups. I have upgraded my HB guitars with Ironstone pickups and DiMarzios. I was much bigger fan of the old Wilkinson that HB had before, especially the old Wilkinson P90's
