Great test. Thanks for the effort. I really like the DXP mode on the MD4. I'm gonna use that in mid/side mode I like the limiter on the Powercore version a bit more than the native version unfortunately, though they are very close

@@adrianmilea I will. I could jbridge the plugins and have no problems. Btw I highly recommend the Eventide Plugins, Elevate Bundle, SplitEQ are insane in my opinion but also the other plugins from Eventide! Merry Christmas and happy producing!

I agree the Poco MD3 has more knock and weight to the transients, but it is also clear that your thresholds between MD4 and Poco MD3 were not aligned. Maybe you set them by meter and not by ear. Dont trust the meters.
@adrianmilea
@adrianmilea 6 ай бұрын
Even if you set them by meter they are different. Poco wins.

Thanks for this video. I am an old POCO user and bought the 6000 Native Plugin for the first time. I sold it years ago because it was too cumbersome to use POCO on today's OS. While MD4 Native is the HD version with a higher level of precision, it still doesn't sound as attractive as MD3 POCO to me. I've been using the UAD as a substitute for seven years and still can't like the sound of the UA, Especially their multiband compression and reverb sucks. I'm still dissatisfied with TC's abandonment of Poco.🥲 TC, please revive POCO🥲

I understand your pain :D I do like POCO more, and hopefully I'll find ways to still make it work on my systems. What do you like most from UAD?

Poco MD3 is definitively not transparent. i can hear a little bump in low frequency. MD4 have a mojo. Thanks for the test 👌

I´m afrad I´m losing my ear!! I couldn´t find noticeable or remarkable differences, even sometimes with the unprocessed material... I´d like to blame it on youtube compression, but maybe my almost 50 years plus 30 working in sound engineering are to blame... nice video anyway (thou, I think I´ll stick with my plugins beause I´m not the one to tell the difference)

Great video, but you didn't really go over the limiter much because you don't use it I guess but that's what I watched the video for haha, the limiter and the clipper, keep up the good work,
@adrianmilea
@adrianmilea 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you tons for your feedback :D I didn't go over the limiter extensively because as you saw in the video - the limiter is not handling the True Peaks really well at hotter levels. However, I would still recommend it, if you have production under -14, -16 LUFS - and that is - if you don't have a better alternative. I believe that MD4 HD Native shines in EQ and Compression departments, but depending on the material - the limiter can still be usable. If you're interesting in limiters, this is what TC Electronic in the MD4 Manual say: "We recommend using the Icon Series BRICKWALL HD for adding detailed True Peak limiting and loudness awareness to your chain, which will ensure a solid master audio file that will comply with any play back system or streaming service." At this point I'm thinking, maybe I should do a video on their native Brickwall Limiter as I didn't test it yet...

@@adrianmilea Its all good, I use the Weiss DS1 mk3 as my final limiter over the fab filter, but I love tc stuff so was intrigued when I saw your post and wanted to hear the clipper and limiter, I also own the leapwing which I love, I did demo the brick wall HD but didn't like it at all, has some good features but overall I didn't like it,
