Huge fan of everything TC since the original native reverb - Worked on a 6K all day every day for many years in broadcast, where we used the 6ks as a kind of realtime mastering processor - Brickwall on the center/dialog channel, multiband comp/limiter over all channels, and simultaneously running TC's incredible 'unwrap' Up/Downmixer (stereo to 5.1) upmixer as a buss insert for stereo sources, and finally the downmixer for a secondary stereo mix of our program output. I absolutely LOVE these things and its a shame most home studio guys never get to get their hands on them or understand just how powerful these things can be, especially for live broadcast applications. The most precise, transparent brickwall for dialog, where it is crucial that we never peak above -6dB - you can really smash, it will never let any transient beyond what you set., and the sound is almost completely transparent - the best Ive ever heard. - cant think of a better up/downmixer, you can really dial in the LS and RS and get incrediblly convinsing 5.1 mixes out of stereo sources - Ive yet to find a better upmixer. So, some of the most boring features of the thing, but those are my favs. :)

It really is no exaggeration to say tc does everything it does better than the rest. I have used my M5000 in many ways - reverb, multiband compressor, mastering path - for 25? years and it always sounds immediately better than any other tool for the same purpose. I updated mine to 18 bit conversion (that’s how old it is) and to this day it sounds better than every 24 bit converter I have acquired since. They earn their premium price in ways a spec sheet could never describe.

Thanks a lot for this video Dom! I've tested the bundle intensively today and I can confirm your impressions. I had a TC4000 as my main reverb for many years and the Finalizer, too, and I was impressed immediately. I took some time to compare the VSS3 and VSS4 to reverb plugins from Lexicon, Cubase, Waves and Fabfilter, and in 4 of 5 cases I prefered the TC. Your examples of the MD4 finally convinced me that there's no way aroung buying this :D

It was fantastic when it came out, however it's over 20 years old and I believe there are many current software plug ins that are just as good (but different) like the Weiss plug ins from Softube for Eq and compressor in my opinion. But this does not take away on how wonderful and clear the 6000 plug ins sound .
@DomSigalas3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... the Weiss EQ was released in 1996 and it's a 1:1 port of the hardware. An algorithm being old doesn't mean it's outdated. Like I said on the video, I have never been able to find something that comes close to the sound of the MD3. Not saying there are not good tools today -of course there are! But they sound different!

Dom, tell me this is not an April Fool?! The real reason you were trying not to smile?! Ok, assuming it's real, this is really really good. This is truly a 'transparent' processing system, the changes you made, I listened to on my Sony compact stereo, which while it's not Bose or B&O, renders a reasonably faithful reproduction. All of these, but especially the EQ and Reverb, sound integral, and do not stand out or make themselves 'obvious' even when you made quite aggressive changes. That is not that easy, it seems, in my amateur way I judge stuff by eg FabFilter ProQ3 as my benchmark, and this does seem to be smoother and less apparent. I presume it's the combo of a handful of bands, with extremely well-written code to faithfully copy the characteristics of the original hardware. A great heads-up. As always, thanks Dom, and keep safe!
