I had the Ditto X2, then sold it and got the EHX720. For my needs the 720 is a lot better! The Fade out stop mode is a big plus. And the reverse/halfspeed button are better, than the switch implementation on the Ditto. Also I like better that on the 720 no matter if you run it mono or stereo you have unity volume at noon. On the ditto if run in stereo you need to lift the volume up to 3/4 to have unity, this means you have less "reserve volume".

Thanks for this comparison. I have an RC-30 that I'm looking to replace and the 720 seemed appealing due to the fade option. Discovering the 720 also has silent switches is a must since I plan to use it at church, where you can hear everything. This review solidified my thoughts and also gave some good, practical comparisons. Thanks!
@stephenwevans3 жыл бұрын
@Alessio Di Summa Don't misunderstand, I love the RC-30, but I don't use the mic input or many of the other features, so having a smaller/lighter pedal works better for me right now.

I'm looking to get my first looper and this was very helpful for deciding between these two choices. Actually I already technically have a looper built-in to my EHX Grand Canyon but it just gets too complicated going through the myriad delay settings it already has and trying to loop with the same pedal, especially if I want to change delay settings while overdubbing. Great video and I liked the format.

I like how you do your demos, at least so far anyway. Most videos have some hammer head going at it with full gain on all his distortion pedals, which doesn't tell me a thing and I turn it off immediately.

I bought the Ditto X2 and liked it a lot but the FX-switch stopped working all of a sudden so I had to return it. Will probably buy the 720 now. I also have the Boss RC-20XL which in 14 years has never failed me. That one is great for live use. Very easy to clear loops. Thanks for your video!

I started with the ditto but reliability was a big issue, I went through 4 in 6 years, either a switch failed or software issue or they just died. When your looper dies it’s like your rhythm guitar player never showed up!! I went with the 720 and found the sound and operation almost identical but way more reliable. I bought 2 to be safe and eventually one had a switch go but I was pleasantly surprised when E Harmonix has a repair deal where you pay $25 and they fix it! The only thing w the 720 is when you cancel a loop it takes about 3 seconds while you hold down the button where the ditto is quicker. I’ve never tried storing loops, prefer to do everything in real time.
@TheMoguitar5 жыл бұрын
I've had both and found the footswitch of the Ditto X2 to be louder under quiet conditions like playing in small acoustic set ups. The 720 just has way more functionality because of the memory presets.

Very impressive. For such a young guy he's got it all together. Its so nice seeing a demo of anything like this where there isn't rippin', distorted Rock music playing the entire time. It helps give us an idea for the equipment's use in other genres like ambient, jazz, etc. Nice job. I'm betting this guy will be putting out some nice albums in the future as well....

Great informative video. Just an added mention. I have the X2. It has a feature (not mentioned) for Backing Track Level. You can increase or decrease (basically mix) the levels in real time. The digital readout on the 720 seems pretty nice and the ability to store a bunch of tracks and recall numerically is a huge plus rather than forcing you to save something externally , like on the Ditto X2.

Was gonna buy the regular Ditto, kinda like the 720... I don't use loopers to record or play out, I like them more for doodling riffs and ideas. The problem with me is that I usually forget, so the 720 seems to be a better all around option. I set up my amps and pedals with a looper. Kinda nice to play a short loop and leave it play while you dial your amp(s) in, walk away, listen, adjust, etc... Making amp or pedal adjustments while standing in front of a speaker isn't ideal. Nice demo man, good sound/video quality, really helped me out. Off to Reverb... Maybe I can find a demo or barely used model. Just grabbed a mint BeatBuddy with sd card for $200. 🤘

Was the random wet sounds(drips) during the ditto from spring reverb or is that from the ditto coloring the signal? It seemed to be from the moving of fingers up the neck, and not as wet sounding during the 720 demoing. That being said, the ditto did sound better to my ears, not sure if the signal was peaking with the 720, but made it sound less polished.

I have the 720, and got also the ammoon stereo looper, for my noise setup. It's a ceaper clone of the 720, and it works like it should. The only thing you CAN'T DO is change the "loop-flow", it only goes rec-play-dub, you can't set it to be rec-dub-play. but the other features work like on the 720.

I have used DITTOx2 for years. I owned a couple of them in fact (because I sold it once to buy a better one but didn't work out). I can say with confidence that this is a totally unreliable looper. Especially in longer loops. So, for a loop of two minutes for example, the undo is not working properly (or not at all). Sometimes is doing some weird stuff just by itself, like it skips parts. It's not happening very frequently but enough to let you down at least once in every gig. The switches are terrible. They need contact spray every once in a while to function. The support is total garbage. They have absolutely no idea about it. It was very frustrating to try to explain to them basic functions of the looper... So stay away from DITTO
