I have one of the original LCPs from the first run in 2008. Just put a Hogue grip sleeve on it due to arthritis. What a diffetence it makes. I can't recommend it enough. With the Ruger factory extended (7+1) magazine it is still a very good option. Just paint that front sight red and get a grip sleeve.

Just bought a new LCP .380 and the newer trigger is about 1/2 the pull weight of the original. Put a Hogue grip sleeve on it too. The new model seems to have a stronger recoil spring and I'm not sure but the guide rod seems to be made of better/stronger steel. The sights are a big improvement, big enough to see but still snag free. I only paid $199 for the new one. I think I paid $325 for the original back in 2008. Great bargain. Still the best LCP version too because no frame safety, no trigger safety, and no magazine disconnect, and snag free sights.

Thanks for a good review. I have a several guns (including an LCP Max and a couple of Glocks), but the original LCP is what I carry most often because I want/need my concealed carry to be TOTALLY concealed. The LCP fits in an incredibly small belt pouch that is easily hidden even by a t-shirt. There is nothing else like it (except for the II of course). It can easily fit in most pockets - but not tight jeans😁. And IMHO, six plus one of 380 of Hornady Critical Defense is quite sufficient for any personal defense situation. But carrying another magazine on your belt or in your pocket is easy.
@tcarp1616 Жыл бұрын
You nailed it
@deucedeuce157211 ай бұрын
Yeah, even the LCP II is thicker though. I like the P3AT and P32 too... but I'd prefer the LCP over the Kel Tecs anyway. I'm not a fan of how easily they rust though. I ordered parts for a friend and thought they'd be fine for at-least a week... so I decided to just leave them in the bag instead of opening/handling them to oil them (and risk losing parts)... but not even a week later (6 days) the entire slide was completely covered in rust. It wasn't pitting or anything like that, but that's still ridiculous. I think the seller washed the parts off without oiling them before shipping, but even so, no gun part should rust that easily. Not even crappy cold bluing rusts like that.

Good enough for EDC? In a word, yes. I’m a 76 y/o retired cop & have had my LCP for several years, hundreds of rounds of FMJ & HP downrange absent a single failure. My orbits are pretty tame, I no longer have to run into gunfire so this meets my needs during warm weather. I can't tell you how many times I did not bother belting up for the big boys. This LCP Custom goes with me everywhere, ALL summer. It is also the only gun I have ever fired in self defense, in all these years. A dog attack on me and the missus a few years ago. (BIG dog) and it worked like a charm. One shot, no harm to us. This is by far my favorite carry gun, and the only one I carry in summer, other than spring time walks here in Black bear country, (or blackberry picking time in late summer) when I carry a 357 loaded for bear. In winter belt and jacket days I carry a Turkish cloned CZ 75 Compact in 9x19. Since belting up and jackets are a hassle anyway, I don't mind shouldering it. But come summer shorts and T-shirts, the LCP is my gun.

@@tcarp1616 Yes, it also had a hammer fracture which broke in half when it was in my holster. If I didn't check my handgun daily who knows how long, I would have carried it incapable of firing.

LCP is too small for me but my wife's hands are smaller. I opted for an EC9s as my first carry gun. Mostly because I didn't feel comfortable putting a Glock IWB. At this point I've lost that fear and will likely go for a G43X because I'm more confident in my carry routine. The gun doesn't go into my pants unless it's holstered. That being said...I would not recommend a glock or any gun without a manual safety to go into a handbag or purse. It's too easy to grab for keys and inadvertently squeeze that trigger.

It doesn’t need to be in a purse unless it’s in a holster, I disagree
