So i only have 3ply yarn that requires 4mm hook. I just wanted to practice the very first section of this top since i have never crochetted such a complicated pattern before...somehow my yarn isn't forming the 'v' shaped stitches as they cross one another. It look like a big tangled mess. Is this to do with yarn and hook size? Or just practice? i'd really love to make this dress. It looks gorgeous
@TCDDIY4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You should be fine when it comes to the yarn and hook size. It may be practice, but sometimes it looks messy if it's just the first few rows. I'd say you don't really see the cable stitches until you've done a handful of rows. 😊
@Truelegendofzeldafan3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I'm lost after row 6! Do you HDC each cable row into the backing row or do you leave them 'loose'? That's where I'm having the most trouble continuing the rows.
@TCDDIY3 жыл бұрын
The Half Double Crochet rows are worked into the tops of the cable stitch rows. Along the back there will be a "pocket" from the previous half double crochet row, but that's the intended design. 😊
@ElaineChan6173 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if I did my slip stitches too tight or I'm just terrible at measuring... but after I put the front and back panels together, it's way shorter than what I was expecting. I was aiming for waist length and right now it's a definite crop top, stopping just below the bust. I had already extended the cable stitches by a few rows and I'm also using a slightly larger hook (6.5mm because I couldn't find my 6mm) should I extend the bottom hem border to make the sweater the length I want, or will the length change after wear and blocking? I should mention I'm typically a size medium, sometimes a small..
@TCDDIY3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elaine! Thanks for reaching out! Slip Stitches can definitely be a little bit tricky so please don't feel bad. I've had to redo many pieces cause they came out way too short. If you don't want to restart i'd first say that as long as you have the same amount of stitches for the under am portion (front and back panel) you're in good shape. and if you want to extend it you can always make the double crochet band a little bit longer. Blocking will help, but I wouldn't rely on it too much because at the end of the day the slip stitches still shrink a good amount. I hope this helps!
@ElaineChan6173 жыл бұрын

Im confused on how to continue the rows 2-5 after the first cable stitch part?
@TCDDIY4 жыл бұрын
If you take the video back to 2:23 you repeat those rows till you get the length you want. If you wan you can send us a message on Instagram so we can further help. 😁

From the visual I am seeing after row 6 you continue with rows 3-6 right? Once I completed row 6, I referenced back to row 2 and once I got on the cable side of row 3 it was on the wrong side. So I think we repeat rows 3-6, instead of row 2-5 ....just making sure I’m correct with the designers work 😊

I got confused on this particular pattern I bought the other day, but once I saw this video I know now (on pattern) to repeat rows 3-6 instead of 2-6 to make the beautiful cable stitch 💖

Of course. Just keep up with the measurements and you will do great. What size 3 do you have BTW? I've been on the look out for some.

@@TCDDIY I'm using the baby sport yarn I think. I found it at Walmart. What hook do u suggest or just use the same hook you use in the video. Thanks so much for sharing. I enjoy watching u and u make crochet so easy

Got started on this. But I swear whenever I start doing the back loop slip crochets they get so tight I can’t get my hook in. I’ve tried pulling the loops really loose and no matter what they always get so tight. Any advice?
@TCDDIY3 жыл бұрын
Slip Stitches can be a struggle. I think the key is to used a loose grip while doing them the entire time. It took a while for me to get the hang of them as well, but a suggestion is if you'd like you can use back loop single crochet's instead of back loop slips for the body. Hope this helps!

How do I make it bigger? I tried skipping in the video, but I can’t find it. Maybe timestamps in the video could help
@TCDDIY2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for reaching out! Our patterns/tutorials give chain and row counts for a size small as a reference and helpful tips on where to measure for other sizes/fits to ensure you get your perfect fit, so it's a "measure along" technique. 😊 All of those tips are within the tutorial with visuals within the top left of the video. If you have any questions about it i'm more than happy to answer them for you as well. 😊❤️ This is an older video so we don't have time stamps for this one at the moment, but we have had timestamps for our pieces from the last year or so. 😊

I'm a bit comfused. When you begin the cold shoulder portion you don't have the mockneck on, but you does that before the sleeve, so When should i start the mockneck
@TCDDIY3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes we make things out of order within the video because we have to test things out since we test, make the video/pattern all at the time time. The easiest way would be to make it in the order it's shown in the video. 😊

If I don’t want to do the cold shoulder, do I just skip the chains??
@TCDDIY3 жыл бұрын
If you don't want the cold shoulder you just continue with the shoulder portion with decreases so it can fit your arm. Kinda like these sleeves: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJC0i5uIiqd2bqM

Would the pattern be affected if I did single crochet instead of the slip stitches? I hadn’t realized until the back part 😭
@amberlyrane80068 күн бұрын
(I know this is 5 months late but someone else might have the same question) slip stitches are thinner than single crochet and are used to end a row, keeping the end and beginning flush together.
