Tchaikovski's Swan Lake that was broadcasted during August Coup in all Soviet television

People who lived in the USSR remember this peculiar tradition well. So, in the days when Brezhnev, Andropov, Chernenko died, the ballet was played from morning to night. And during the coup in 1991, "Swan Lake" could be learned to the smallest detail, because it was shown for three days without a break! There is also an opinion that it was decided for the first time to show the people "Swan Lake" on the day of the death of the Secretary General because Tchaikovsky finished work on the work precisely on the memorial week, after Easter. Perhaps that is why the famous ballet was destined to become a symbol of remembrance and the end.

nein. Everything is fine is when in a civilized western country you completely ignore what happened during the black October of 1993. Except the original report that, wow, something happened there. That's like even more cringe than playing white swan when something happens inside the country

@@mohammad3848in USSR the swan lake was broadcasted on all TV stations when a premier would die. The last time it was broadcasted for three days straight on every channel during the fall of the USSR. Thus it's now is a bit infamous in the post soviet countries. Atleast with the older generations.

Fun fact: Those who didn't give up were all leaders educated during the final era of the Soviet Union. Autocratically thinking personalities accustomed to gaining power and keeping it through subtle means and deceit. Doesn’t work that well in a democracy.
