In today's world, no conductor can reach the level of Toscanini. This version is still top notch!

I Agree with you on Certain Recordings like this 1941 Recording and Elgar Enigma Variations both of them are available on His Master's Voice the Record Numbers are the Tchaikovsky B flat Minor Piano Concerto CSLP 505 and the Elgar Enigma Variations ALP 1204 and the earlier 1941 Version is far far better and it is very Rare because 12 Months after the Release of the 1941 Recording RCA Victor Switched to DECCA and His Master's Voice Became part of the EMI Group
Hahahaha, amazing! It's a career! Who is more crazy than the other. I love this live recording

Having got a copy of Both the 1941 Taken from a NBC Symphony Broadcast on Tuesday May 6th 1941 and Reissued under licence by His Master's Voice in the Golden Treasurey of Immortal Performances in 1956 and Reissued under licence by His Master's Voice Record Number CSLP 505 and the later one taken from a war Bond Concert in Carganini Hall on Sunday April 25th 1943 and Reissued by RCA Victor in 1960 Record Number RB16190 I have to agree with you this is the later one but I think the earlier version is a far better Recording and Performance
It's an incredible presentation! Considered a classic by many. Purposely presented and accomplished in detail, to please mainly a live audience. A competition of sorts: three giants sort of competing for our admiration and pleasure. The overall sound quality of this recording not to my total liking. At times, it feels to me as if the concerto was being played inside a giant brass bell. Just a question of personal preference, I suppose.

I think that this is the 1943 'live' performance (?).

Who ever wrote about this Recording needs to check his or her facts because I've got a copy of both the 1941 and 1943 Recordings and the 1941 Recording was taken from a NBC Symphony Broadcast on Tuesday May 6th 1941 and was Reissued in 1956 Under licence by His Master's Voice in the Golden Treasurey of Immortal Performances Record Number CSLP 505 and the 1943 Recording was taken from a war Bond Concert on Sunday April 25th 1943 and was Reissued by RCA Victor in 1960 Record Number RB16190 and the 1941 Recording sounds far far better and is very Rare and I also Notest Some banging noise in this transfer which you don't get with the 1960 Reissue

Ich dachte dass die 1941er Version eine Studio Aufnahme ist. Aber das ist tatsächlich live. ???
