This performance just makes me realize how amazing Martha Argerich is playing this concerto at her age the way she does. He does not have as much technical easiness as Martha does.

This was far from good, but way better than I feared it'd be. Even had some interesting moments.

Lmao ‘far from good’ ? Who do you think you are, we’re talking about Barenboim playing Tchaikovsky. Be a good listener and shut up

@@Fanfanbalibar You think it's actually horrible? You might have a point there... ☺️

Would you please recommend a good version? I don’t know a lot but I am really curious.
@Pogouldangeliwitz Жыл бұрын
@@dateouka There's plenty of good versions. Check for the pianists Argerich, Gilels, Pletnev, Pogorelich, Richter, Solomon, Volodos - to name but a few... Horowitz being a league of his own, obviously (my favorite version of his being the 1953 live with Szell).

I have just discovered this performance and find it very interesting. When Barenboim first came onstage the orchestra did not look too impressed (he does have a reputation for being a cold and hard man, but I'm surprised it was shown in the video). The performance is 'standard'. As someone said, look at how Argerich performs it then and now (ignore the performances conducted by Barenboim when he was manipulating her performances into something she didn't have to do). Her Pappano/Dutoit etc. performances are perfect - way above this. Interesting that at the end the video focused on his family cheering wildly

Mehta is a gentleman. Barenboim doesn't matter.

How typical of this great musician that his first gesture was for the orchestra and Mehta.

Are you referring to the end? If so, this is typical of any soloist to acknowledge the conductor and orchestra first.
