This begins with original version of the slow movement of the violin concerto. it would be good to hear the concerto with this movement sometimes. It's just as good as the final version. The end is sublime. Then we get the bonus of two short but great movements here. The whole work is played perfectly and gives the impression of a little violin concerto itself.

Splendid. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a classical student. The audience was great for being perfectly quiet throughout as well!

BRAVO MIRIAN, EXCELENTE SONIDO, TECNICA, INTERPRETACIÓN, PERO SÓLO ESO NO BASTA SINO HAY ALMA, Y TU LA TIENES EN CADA NOTA QUE TOCAS, Y ESA ES LA DIFERENCIA DE UN GRAN TECNICO, Y UN ARTISTA. ERES UNA ARTISTA.. BRAVA !!.

The "lieu cher" is the estate Brailov, owned by his patroness Nadezda von Meck), where Tchaikovsky spent severeal good vacations. He really loved this beatiful place and its environments. This estate (today museum) i situated between Kiev and Lviv. I hope it will be secured and saved during this awful war in Ukraine! Slava Ukraine!!!

Great performance! Thanks! Of all Tchaikovsky chamber works, this is the only work IMO, that sounds more beautiful with larger orchestra thanks to Alexander Glazunov's orchestration; though in here the wind segments seem to have been transcripted for strings.

This arrangement is a direct transcription from Tchaikovskys pianoscore :) musikkforlagene.no/butikk/nils-thore-rosth-arr-souvenir-dun-lieu-cher/

@@nilsrosth Also, I found Olga Polonsky and Stephan Koncz on KZbin performing the Meditation with a larger orchestra. It gets confusing for me to distinguish by hearing if there are more than the three original staff lines as the winds seem to enhance that performance. As with your beautiful arrangement, the additional tonal colors perhaps play tricks on listeners' ears.

Why did I think Saint-Saens composed this the first time I heard it while on hold for a .....HARDWARE store of all places? Hardware stores aren't exactly fountains of cultural and artistic consumption. Unless plumbers now take two years of study threading pipes with violin strings. Lovely playing, by the way, Sonoko.
