I just got a used Roland VT-3, but I think I'll return it and get one of these instead. The VT-3 lacks any compression, so the input is constantly clipping even on low-gain settings. But the VT-3 has 6 preset slots if you hold one of the buttons like a shift key. You should update the firmware to use the headphone button as a shift key to get 3 more preset slots.

Our setup is pretty straightforward in this video! We have a 5-pin midi cable going into the VE from our midi keyboard, a microphone into the VE via xlr, and one 1/4" output to a monitor (TCH FX-150). It's just midi/mic in, one instrument cable out.

Do you always need to connect a keyboard? Can't you just simply connect your mic and then connect the outputs to a speaker or to a laptop in case you want to record your voice with effects like in, for example, reading a book or a speech?

This is such a sweet tutorial. Unfortunately, I can't even figure out how to hook up my Perform-VE and so I can't even get this to work. My my keyboard connects to my Studio One DAW and the Perform VE connects to my PC, but it doesn't seem to cooperate and I can't see how it would, due to the connections. Any basic setup tutorials???

Hi Frank, You should check the manual for midi channels involved in note transmission into the ve. Then you need to set your DAW midi channel with output at the same channel and destination the ve. The input should same channel and your keyboard controller so that way notes from keyboard proper channel (maybe you need keyboard channel in their own setup) gors into the the DAW and get routed to the ve. Additional audio channel will be required to hear sound from the ve obviously (it’s an audio interface so similar setup but this time with audio preferences and audio channel). It seems worse than it is in reality. The straightforward way is connecting a keyboard with midi din (5 pins) directly into the ve and setup properly the channel (the ve has autorecognition afaik) but that way you can’t send notes directly from the DAW… hope it makes sense. If you answer me, please hit thumbs up to this comment since I have answer notification disabled to avoid get involved in usual no-sense discussions so popular at youtube and music gear (lol)

hey i'm using the perform ve. have a question regarding the natural mic, so i've plugged in my earpiece into this, and it doesnt work. i've restarted and it works for only 3 seconds and then the natural mic turns off. are there solutions for this problem?

Hi! A little question :) Is it possible to record a sample by using the TC Foot Switch? For some sounds that I want to sample I need my both hands :)

Pure Garbage. Mine fried up after a month of use. TC refused to repair it since it wasn’t purchased at their ‘ approved ‘ list of retailers. Be mindful, it doesn’t haves a power switch so be really cautious.

How the hell do you set this thing up? I have one ready to be purchased on amazon but how much extra equipment do i need? I see you have like 5 different wires that I dont believe come with this piece of equipment. Thanks a ton.

This was already answered above. He's just using the power supply, mic input (XLR), MIDI from the keyboard, and audio output (standard 6.5 mm cable). Even if you don't have monitor speakers you definitely need the audio output.
