I bought a TCL 55R635 last year and was waiting to decide on a soundbar. I automatically assumed that the Alto 9+ was superior simply because of a higher number designation, but this one seems to be a better buy.

Yes. I own both. The 3.1.2 is far better.

I purchased the Alto 6+. It works well with my TCL SERIES 4 43" Roku TV. Though the Alto 8 and 9 were both tempting, I considered the room, the audio capabilities that the TV supports and family who would be using it when I am working. This gives a much broader sound both in frequency range and reach of enjoyable / intelligible audio. The sub is nice, it adds just that little bit of extra that sometimes we don't even realize is in that frequency range. LOL, it also reveals the lack of a good mix on a lot of TV shows/networks. 😁

I got a Vizio model 3651 at Walmart for $250 a few years back. It's been good to me. It has satellite speakers and subwoofer wireless. I think if I had to do all over again I would go with Bose sound bar. Even though the thousands of dollars to get their complete setup I'm pretty sure it's worth it. You see I have 2- 901 series D speakers in 2 corners of my living room. There hooked to a 450 watt amp fed from my soundbar. The problem is I have to get up and turn up or down the preamp if I want a concert. I guess I'm good. My advice on sound bars unlike what I did is do your research. I got lucky with mine. Bose speakers are totally unreasonably unspeakably expensive!

I think for most people this is a excellent sound bar to make their TV's sound better. Most of us purist know TV speakers are usually insufficient as far as sound quality. Plus the TCL Roku sound bar is really inexpensive compared to others on the market.

Love the video, you sound very knowledgeable and your information was very helpful. The only thing I’d say as a critique would be that I think you need a wired personal mic clipped to your person because you seemed to be trying to speak extra loud to reach the mic to pick up audio clearly. Anyway keep up your great work!

One thing to add, the wall mount kit included is not good. Buy a 20lbs soundbar mount at target for 25 bucks to avoid the headache

I got a roku sound bar it was glitchy and the sound wasn’t that good but we got a Samsung speaker with subwoofer, two speakers and a sound bar with surround sound and it was amazing. Every time my family watches tv the whole floor is shaking we can never put it above 25 percent. It also has different modes.

Bought this refurbed for $130 and... the subwoofer rattles with strong bass 😫 It's the port tube, if they used better adhesive it wouldn't rattle, as I can press my fingers on the edges of it and it stops rattling. Not sure if this is the problem it had and why it became 'refurbished' but it's something to watch out for with use. Love these speakers otherwise, they get loud.

Great deal, but how do I turn it off? There is NO power off, just sleep and standby? Both leave a bright light 24/7 on the sound at? Am I missing something here, just want it to power completely off when not in use..thanks

How do I connect mine to my Google Home app ? I can hit the add device but then it asks me what type of device it is (thermostat, speaker, etc etc) and I don't know what to hit lol. It I guess could be a "speaker" but not really lol.

Just snagged it at Walmart for $168 on sale for Black Friday! As far as I can tell it’s unbeatable at that price. I went over budget on the TV so I had to make up for it with the soundbar. He’s right in that it’s not the best out there, but it’s a noticeable step up in quality over TV speakers. The vertical Dolby atmos effects really stand out in scenes like the opening of Mad Max or the Batmobile chase in The Batman. My only major complaint is that the sub is pretty intrusive, enough to justify turning it down pretty low for dialogue and potentially missing the heavy bass it can provide when a scene actually needs it.

im having a little problem with it! I set up with hdmi arc to my tv from tcl alto 8i.When i play something sound comes almost after 2 or 3 seconds.And i lose first 2 or 3 seconds of everything!

The problem is that sound is not "fire". Forward firing, left and right firing does not do it. You need fidelity, resolution and balanced frequency response. Unfortunately sound bars suck too .. It is evident when listening to musical content. Why don't they sell monitors , tuner/streamers and then proper sound systems separately? Speakers are not that expensive.. they do not need to be tiny.. I want proper music And for films I also want 6 channel audio Why do I have to buy so many things more than once?

It's only got arc not eark . So you won't get proper dolby atoms only compressed atmos audio from dolby digital plus .

This is the most infuriating sound at I’ve ever dealt with. Bought one for my in-laws and parents. Today the volume started hissing. I called tech support and they told me to change the hdmi cord. I did and that fixed it. Now none of the remotes for any of the devices are working. This is too much stress and not even a good sound bar. Rant over lol
