The TCX Hero 2 WP Boots resemble non-riding boots with full grain leather upper and a laced closure up front. Luckily, a T-Dry waterproof membrane preserves comfort in soggy conditions while a side zipper unlocks everyday convenience. An Ortholite foot bed also enhances comfort but a thick rubber outsole prioritizes grip (and safety) in all situations.

I have the Heroes in brown and in black. Great boots, but I agree that a non-waterproof version would be great, and they need to be available in brown.

As someone who also has the original heros and ride through hot Aussie summers, is there any similar boots that aren't waterproof?

Are there any significant difference between hero 2 and blend 2? Besides the side zip?

For the most part, no that is the main difference. TCX likes to offer a lace up and zip/lace combo option for customers. There are some slightly different leathers and colors between the two, but the zipper / no zipper is a key difference.

I'd say goodyear welt is pretty significant difference. Blend 2's sole seems to be glued on.

For sure, right hand shift bikes exist. But we’d be surprised if TCX is making their boots to match rider’s 50-60 year old bikes anymore.

@@RevZilla most of the classic style riding boots that have a shift panel on them tend to have one on the left and the right... so they're thinking about us vintage bike guys. With the more modern style boots, maybe not, I haven't looked at those much.

@@CCitis I also have some alpinestar boots with the panel on each side. I think they're called Oscar Monty Twin Drystar Boots. My all time favorite boots but they discontinued them a couple years ago, or redesigned them. The new design does't have the shift panel on either side.

The flexiness is a worry. As is the lack of sturdy ankle support. As you say, appears a bit of a rip off. Not much different to say a pair of Timberlands?

They aren't meant to be track boots, and for what they are they are pretty reasonably priced compared to other, similarly constructed non-motorcycle boots. They have a stitchdown-construction, which means they can be resoled, unlike cemented boots like Timberlands. Less than $250.00 for full-grain leather, stitchdown, waterproof boots is a pretty competitive price.

Looks like a slow speed urban boot based on lack of protection. Should be cheaper.
