Being an RN he could have had an Angioplasty. This is a procedure done by a Radiologist, under flouroscopy, after a blood clot is detected in an artery. A cstheter is inserted in the groin and a wire is directed to guide an umbrella type device to guide the clot out before it reaches the heart or brain.
