Whoah cool... I stumbled on this looking for how to get my TD-3 to play midi notes sent by my MPC, but damn... those are some next level mods.

So Phat! So in your face and intense! Love it! Makes my stock unit sound like a little kitten compared to this.

Awesome, both the sound and the mods. If you don't need a Ferrari out of it, you should sell a design containing your mods to Behringer so that we can all benefit from your creativity :)

Wondering if I can do the same with the arduino I'll have in my TD-3. Have it send various gate sequences to the TD-3 internally :) Then provide a way to edit the gate trigger sequences and switch among them on the TD-3 :) Do you still have this MPC One project svaed? I have an MPC One. Would be cool to get the file so I can try it out to see what exactly is happening :) Are certain notes being skipped at all?

So looking forward to your great arduino project! I did mostly improvise that piece. In the vid. Just using arp and switching between timing values on the fly - don’t have that Mpc any longer… :( in your case think about arduino to no lug of gate, so when you plug an external gate that connection is broken/doesn’t interfere. Or simple diode AND.

@@maffezsynthmods Well I'd probably have the the Arduino gate go through the normalled connection of the sync in jack? So the external overrides it?

What do I need to output this 1PPQ signal? I suppose you need a device where you can set it up and then a 3,5mm jack going into the TD-3, do you need anything else for this except hardware or how do you set this up? I have no clue about this MPC thingy, just wondering how I could do something like this myself. Surely the "advancing the sequence per step" is not a mod in itself right? It's just being externally triggered right? Pretty cool stuff man, how much you do the modding for hahahah :D

Hey Finn, & yes, advancing the seuencer this way is not a mod, just an old trick. You need either a trigger source or a short gate (from a sequencer or midi-cv converter like Midipal). Edit: just tried and a short sound like a rimshot also works, so you can just fire some notes from your soundcard/sampler/drumcomputer. And as for comissioned work, I sometimes do this but don't charge Ferrari figures. There's a conact form on my webpage. :)

Wait a minute, why does yours have dials and buttons on the Filter In, Sync In, CV Out, Gate Out and Phones jacks? What is that called? Does the grey model come with those?

I was just toying around there with all I/O put on the backside and pots/switches in place of the old ones. :) The silver is just like the others from factory.

Sorry for such a noob question, but what are the switches you've got inserted in the cv/ gate sockets etc?

not noob at all :) if memory serves these were accent trigger, accent decay, vca decay, portamento and the other pot i forgot (filter feedback?)... with that unit i was just basically toying with placing controls - pic of more conventional takes are on my webpage

Fair enough :) Don't have a camera stand or great patience for doing slick videos - these clips are mostly meant as quick & dirty demos of mods.

@@maffezsynthmods I get that the videos are meant as just a quick record. But, to the worldwide modding community. Including people in non English speaking countries These videos are an incredibly important resource. For anyone ever attempting to mod any of the gear you've shown, this may be their only resource and record of method. Especially for musicians & sound artists, wanting a specific sound or effect. They might not have the strong electronics skills or knowledge needed to easily replicate your mods. When I started modding my Speak n' Spell in 1999, there was no KZbin and only Reed Ghazala's incredibly quirky original art work for Speak n' Spell mods. The SK-1 info I found was buried deep on a DIY Guitar Pedal forum. Documented by someone using a VGA webcam or flat bed scanner ! KZbin has made this a thousands times easier, but the clarity and details remain the most important features. Especially if you consider this may be the only record people find and the possibility of damaging valuable equipment they can't afford to pay to repair ! Thanks for your work👍

@@edwardfletcher7790 Thanks for the kind words! And of course the links in my vid descriptions lead you always to where the meat is i.e. detailed instructions and guides for modding. These vids show some results, just that. -- For many modding projects I document on my website there are threads on several forums where modders exchange info, help each other and test stuff - quite unlike the ole times when an obscure reference was the only source - mind you, there was always cykong's excellent page :)

@@maffezsynthmods There's so much more info now, the collaboration is fantastic. In 1996 only 0.9% of the world population was on the net. Most companies didn't even have websites ! lol
