Better results thanI would have expected from a small sensor camera - thanks for posting

Hi Please help get grainy footage with this camera, its only really sharp out doors, even in doors in my living room with all the lights on, I get grain, I just don't get it, as everyone else in low light tests I've seen is sharper than mind in doors with house lights on, have I got it in the wrong mode or something? This is when I shoot in 4k

I have the same problem ... I have so much joise/grains in my videos even though light is ok. But it is horrible in low light. Maybe you can posts your settings you were using in this video? Most of mine are set to auto ... which one are best to adjust?

Does it make good photos? Do you know where I can see samples?

Not bad. Much better than camcorders used to take. It's actually incredibly handy for this because of the massive zoom and excellent stabilisation. The image is maybe a little overcooked and sharp for my liking but it's as good as a phone will often produce. My instagram (tdcat.com/instagram) has a picture of an owl back in September. I'm afraid that's the only sample I have at the moment! Not much use.

I know you've been filming for a while. You seem knowledgeable about video filming units like video cameras and video camcorders. However, one thing that many people always seem to forget about digital photography , is the problem and issues stemming from color bleed. Every video camera and camcorder on the market is susceptible to color bleeding issues. Color bleed stems from dominant colors that take up the bulk of environmental surroundings. Cameras are extremely sensitive to the color red, followed closely by the color blue, and lastly, the color green. Red is the most problematic of all the color bleed issues with any video camera. Even the earliest versions of color film video cameras and camcorders that used tape film had this problem. Although manufacturers and creators of video cameras and camcorders have improved drastically on the sensor eye and color bleed issues, it has never been successfully done away with. That is why you are having so many problems with the odd lightings while you are driving. Not only is the camera seeing and reading the red colors of all the vehicle taillights and brake-lights, it's also picking up the color red on your dashboard of your car. This tends to lean towards more red being recorded by your camera and the cameras sensitivity towards red is pushed to its limits, thus creating the reddish hue and reddish cast on you. The white balance in this unit is automatic. The white balance cannot compensate for this problem because of the constant and rapid changing light conditions created whilst driving at night. The combination of dozens to hundreds of other vehicles, the surroundings, especially those with reflective surfaces only serves to augment the color bleed issue that are creating the reddish hue cast that you're having troubles with. That is why most of your footage turned out to be pretty much garbage. There is so much red in your video that it cannot be edited or corrected in post. There will always be underlying issues that causes the other colors in the spectrum to become unbalanced, thereby resulting in a crappy looking video. Such issues also creates serious problems of digital smearing and digital noise. On the other hand, this video shows some pretty nice detail in spite of, or despite the color bleeding issues. It's surprisingly fairly clean with very little noise issues. Some of the footage turned muddy looking, but that isn't because of you nor editing. It has to do with how you compressed your video prior to uploading and posting on youtube. When you uploaded your already compressed video, youtube took the video and compressed it even more, thereby removing even more of the video image's digital info and color detail. The result is video smearing and footage that looks unfocused and muddy. I hate youtube and hate the way my videos look posted here. Thanks for sharing.

You need a fat gecko, it will make your filming much easier! Especially if add a tripod head and qr plate. I did my test on a dark road, but was surprised how good it was..

You are dead right. They're much more reasonable than I thought. Thanks!

tdcat.com no problem, you will only need the double and not the triple for ax53. However don't get the cheap head on amazon and elsewhere get the proper manfrotto head and plate, this will screw on to the thread the camera needs to be wound onto. Not so easy to spin the camera round but a swift and cleve edit and all is good.

Cheers. I film a bit in the car because I enjoy it and it makes use of what is otherwise 'dead' time.

It is a pretty good place to do things, I am most often the passenger so I do a bit but usually to use it as a music video for work I have done. or to shoot timelapses of clouds etc while at home. with the camera close to glass there is minimal reflection.. will be good on a plane to film a flight too...
