The app is terrible impossible to save energy as much as possible. If my battery is full the solar panel only sends the energy set from the app and not the full power of the solar panel …. Useless

300 charge cycles is about typical for most rechargeable batteries. Li-Ion do a bit better (I have a Mophie that is now about 8 years old and holds about 80% of it's original capacity, but I don't know how many times I've recharged it though, and it spend about 6 months unused). The only reason I now have to get rid of it is is the battery is starting to swell (no longer sits flat) otherwise I'd keep it, but it's kind of dangerous to use with a swelling battery obviously. Paid about $150 for that one (it was a 20,000 Mah charger with 3 USB-A ports -- no USB-C) but still think I got my money's worth out of it. Hopefully these Anker batteries will do the same. But 300 charge cycle is about normal. If you charge it say twice per week from fully dead, I mean that's still about 3 years of use (104 charge cycles per year). That's probably pretty aggressive usage IMO, and most people might only recharge it once a week if that, unless they're using it to contasntly charge multiple devices each day or week, and running it down, but even at 100 charge cycles per year, it's not too bad, and probably is still better value than a cheap one that lasts only 6 months and then starts to have charging issues. My experience is that for most people, 300 charge cycles on anything will be more than you think, unless you routinely run down your battery every 2-3 days, which some people might, but most people won't, and that those numbers are probably worst case. You may get 350 or 400 charge cycles out of it. The other key is how you charge it. If you charge it when it's 80% full, you're wasting charge cycles in some cases, but if you also run it down to 0% then you're also going to put more strain on it and it may only get 300 charge cycles, but if you do what most people recommend with Li-Ion and recharge when the capacity is between 20-60% then you should get the maximum life out of it that you can, whether that's only 300 cycles or more (probably more). I've seen that some of these power banks and charge themselves while powering something else and while you can still do that, that may also decrease the recharge cycle too, so I would not advise doing that if you want the maximum number of charge cycles. It likely doesn't have a huge impact on overall charge cycles, but not something I would do regularly myself. I would probably just do what I mentioned and let it run down to 20-60% before recharging. Obviously running it down below 20% on occasions likely isn't going to harm much either, but routinely doing that will decrease the life of the battery overall. But even my Samsung Galaxy S10 has managed to survive 5 years of me letting it run down to 20% or less and powering off, and it still holds a decent charge (enough for 1 day at least) now 5 years later, and that's the original battery it had when it was new (5 years ago).

I am setting up a CCTV system for my family (home/business). I was only considering an NVR that works with H.265+ but now I don't see that it is necessary. Your perspective on CCTV storage quality/quantity was valuable to me. Thanks for the content. Greetings from Brazil

Very Interesting. I think though what you end up going with is always going to depend on what your content and audience will be. You use such an extreme zoom in the first place either because you have to, doing say... Wildlife or Sports, or News Gathering ,or for Pure Artistic Expression.

Did I say 5 seconds? It’s much longer than that (maybe 45-60 seconds). It’s generally fine as it’s usually something that is left on but it’s worth people being aware of.

Congrats on the purchase ! Nice short and helpful review, that sums up and explains most functions. Luckily no sound review (most sound reviews sound awful because of poor recording equipment and say nothing about the quality of the equipment)). Questions, since i may be purchasing one myself : 1. did you experience problems after years of use (building quality, durability) . 2. does the use of the usb input require driver installation on my PC, or is it plug & play via Windows (wasapi ?). Enjoy your DAC and never forget: it's all about the music ! - I use Kodi TV mediacenter for playback of CD (wav) and HiRes Flac audiofiles.

There are several things I don't think are not mentioned here that are important and downsides 1. It's tied to a management server in China, all automation goes via it so if they go away or geopolitical stuff happens - poof you mostly own a brick 2. The moment you want more than maybe 2KWh it's incredibly expensive compared to proper wired in solutions (and except in a small flat you will want more than 2KWh once you dabble ;)) so it's actually not a good beginning as you can't upgrade it to the size you'll want 3. The 12v output of the units is only a bit over 100W. That prevents you using a lot of the camping/caravan style efficient 12v kit to save power 4. The automation is very limited unless you install 3rd party tools (which still all depend on China) 5. The range on the powerstream wifi is dire, and the smartplugs likewise. Fine for the intended small Chinese/European apartment but not good anywhere else 6. Their support is now terribly slow, and returns even slower (big issue as their QA is also iffy - just check how often they have refurb units for sale). The EPS mode with solar they added in firmware is excellent though if your use case is emergency backup and you want to also get the benefit from solar, as is the ability now to stack solar on the battery and the powerstream. Never buy their kit except on a special special offer with coupons and all the rest. If you missed the sale just wait a couple of weeks and there will be another one.

I bought this as an uninterrupted power supply for my cpap. I am super impressed as if you kill the mains power you cannot tell as there is no loss of performance. I also researched as I want to use it for off grid in my camper. Whilst my camper is off grid with 12v and gas I prefer elec kettle and hob plus blowing up paddle boards and charging 101 devices. Super impressed with it so far and it was competitively priced from Costco. Can’t wait on get more use out of it during the summer. For me there is no direct competitor in that price bracket at the moment.

Even in the countries where using them grid tie is legal (like Germany) you can't put multiple units on one grid connection or mix them with any other grid feedin devices.

Would have appreciated a music test as well. I think most people like to listen to music at their desk as well as needing to have the speakerphone capability (in my case, it's actually probably skewed 90/10 that way!). So I don't see why one wouldn't want to test both the speech and music capabilities. I see you have nice monitor speakers there, but don't overlook the fact that most users will not have that available.

A high capacity battery generally has its bad points. A much shorter cycle life and less durable charge tolerance. Example, a stressed battery used in vapes have only about a 2A rating. The usual 2.6A capacity is a fine balance for most applications, IMO.

Have you seen the Ecoflow Alternator Charger that is on sale (in the UK). It looks identical to the Powerstream, but is aimed at charging your batteries in a car/RV. Wondering if it is just a rebadged Powerstream that I could use as a Powerstream with the appropriate cables?
