Cody, In regards to Fire& Axe: You are the man when it comes to board game reviews! I bought Fire&Axe on the strength of your review alone. I was not disappointed. I have not seen a game that mixes so many differing levels of strategy, yet kept it fun and simple enough to not be bound down by too many rules! I love that you can trade with a port city and then turn around the next turn and raid their pathetic little town easier since they gave you their money for the goods. One thing I am wishing tho is that the different viking miniatures had different abilities or strengths(but that might add too much to the rule set and possibly make it too cumbersome). Other positive points: there is a set definite finish and ending which has a winner in a reasonable amount of time. Most games of Fire&Axe seem to be right around 2-3 hours on average, some quicker, some longer. Very much enjoyed the board and colors, well laid out and in an original way. Nice that they had rivers in the game as history has shown that the viking clans traveled far up and down the mighty rivers of Russia like the Don and Volga. I have also bought a few other games that had your recommendation(Origins of World War 2-found a great deal on ebay, I lucked out on that one, also Twilight Struggle and Triumph and Tragedy-big 20th century & WWII buff here). Next on my list is Churchill-hope I find a deal on that as well. Stop recommending so many awesome games, my credit card can't take anymore(notice I didn't say anything about my wallet) I all seriousness tho, can you guys PlEASE review a few more of the older strategy and combat/politic games from the 70's and 80's and 90's, Avalon Hill had some great ones in the seventies. Also some of the battle scenario games from Command magazine would get my vote(1918-Storm in the West-check this one out for sure) Awesome Job Brother! So if you will allow me to be the Dominick to your String-fellow Hawk in the comments section(I hope your 1980's t.v. show knowledge holds up here), let me say this to your other subscribers and fans of T.D.G., whenever Cody says to get a game, don't even hem and haw about it, go get the thing and enjoy!

+redblackmonkey Thank you, sir. I'm glad I can be of service. As far as reviewing more of the older games- I don't think I'll be able to anytime soon. A victim of my own success, I have too many companies that want me to review their game, and I don't have the time to play, let alone review, some of the games that I would like to. In closing, I'd like to thank you once again for your correct viewpoint vis a vis my reviews. I love it when a plan comes together!

What is the learning curve?

It's not a hard game to learn, but like any game of a certain level of complexity there will be some time in order to learn the rules.

Cody, I have to agree with you on the board. I really like this new game board over the previous versions. I think that the colors look really good. My only complain with the board is that I wish that the dial was attached to the board rather then free floating. I need to look at the board again when folded and if the dial area is on the outside I think that I am going to use my extra clips some some of my other FFG to attach the wheel to the board. However if the wheel would be on the inside of the folds then this will not really work. However I could easily make it removable if I do not attach the back clip. Great review of this great game.

+Ray Phay Ray- Agree 100% on the dial. In fact, I was going to make that point in my review an I forgot until just now. Great game and I like the look of it. Thanks!
