I am on the fence about getting this one. Some people seem to really dislike the way Leads can be either impossible, or really easy to acquire. What has your experience been in that regard?

Some of them are very difficult. My feeling is that you should lose a cooperative game most of the time (70-90%). It makes winning that much more of a thrill. There are some cooperative games I've played many times and have not yet won. It doesn't diminish my love for those games in the least.

Indeed, I do. I love the Legendary Encounters system, and I enjoyed the X-Files, so I thought this would be good.

Which would you recommend for someone's first Encounters game? I've played Marvel Legendary and enjoy it but I hear Encounters is the refined version of that system. I was thinking Alien but while I'm not a fan of The X-Files I see some crossover potential with other sets like how IDW has used to the license to have crossovers with Mulder and Skully meeting the Ghostbusters or the Autobots. Sorry for the long question.

I guess I'd go with whatever IP you like. Personally, I think Alien is the best of the Encounters games. Also, Legendary is from Upper Deck, not IDW.

I am not a fan of the legendary system itself. But Legendary encounters Aliens has been great (finally picked up my own copy last week). Not sure why, but I find encounters so much more enjoyable. Cheers for this overview, i'd heard some pretty bad things about predator, and firefly is an IP i don't care for. X-files looks like it could be even more to my liking as the bureau mechanic looks spicy. As always, top notch review this, as always.

Thank you, sir. I agree that Encounters is the superior system. I liked Predator and Firefly, but so far Aliens and X-Files I think are the better games.

Have you tried mashing up Aliens and Predator? If so, how did that work? If not, why not :)

@@3MBG I haven't. It's just one of those things I never got around to. When I moved to Texas I gave a friend my copy of Predator.

I am sure I will. I love the X-Files and Legendary Alien is a favorite of mine. Your review sort of cemented my decision to get it.
