TY, Cody. As someone who has been a longtime gamer and student of the battle, this is a good, non-traditional look. Non-traditional in the sense that the focus is upon area control rather than army morale. The best Waterloo Battle game is still "The Thin Red Line" by the late Craig Taylor.

Thank you. I haven't played that one. Perhaps I should look into it.

great video. I like complex war games. Would you say it's more complex than a say Normandy 44 by GMT?

I haven't played that one, so I cannot compare.

Your slightly negative review encouraged me to get the game! Its on sale at GMT. You can't love everything and its good that you are honest.

So many Napoleons so little time. Sticking with Columbia and their Eagles cards for now. Playing blind is pretty darn good with two sets of the game. Wait, there was no cardboard at Waterloo?
@TheDiscriminatingGamer4 жыл бұрын
I've heard playing it blind is awesome, but requires a referee. Maybe I'll try it someday.

I like the game map! Is there a similar game with a lighter/more approachable rules set that you enjoy more?
@TheDiscriminatingGamer4 жыл бұрын
I really like the map here, too. Check out Columbia Games' Napoleon: The Waterloo Campaign or Worthington's Napoleon Returns 1815 - both very different games on the campaign, as opposed to a tactical battle game, but I think they do a great job with the theme and are less complicated.

Comparing Root and WNLB is like comparing steak to strawberries. They are very different games.
3 жыл бұрын
@@befirmbefair6674 I agree, Root been a war game while WNLB is just complications over complications - the winner been the [only] one mastering the convoluted rules. But with Napoleon in the name, it will sell well.

Too many chits if you ask me and probably a ton of rules (with exceptions to the rules to make it even more complex). Waterloo (200 years) Stratego is still the (Waterloo) game for me as you can make it as simple or as complex as you like.
@TheDiscriminatingGamer4 жыл бұрын
Ha! Stratego is fun for what it is, but a little too light for me.
@maxeisert74664 жыл бұрын
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Mind you, Waterloo (200 years) Stratego by Jason St. Just is (although Stratego is mentioned in the title) much more than an (ordinary) stratego game.

Waterloo is vastly overdone by now, and it was always a "boring" battle....

Disagree about the "boring" part. I find the battle fascinating.
