Honestly, I really like this product with a pre-styler, it's everything you said it is. However, with clean dry hair (without any oil in it), it is a pain to apply, it has a lot of tug and it is not smooth at all.
@TDMStyle5 жыл бұрын
Hm, I haven’t experienced that myself. Though to be fair I have to always use some type of smoothing pre styler no matter what, cause otherwise my hair is just too dry and unruly lol

If I want a Shear Revival product that has a hold of Northern Light with a tad shinier than natural shine/semi wet look without hardening, which product should I buy? Crystal Lake, Easy Tiger, or Gray Ghost?

The problem with a glass jar is it can break. That's what happened to my jar and then the product dried out. I enjoyed using the product while I had it. It definitely felt heavy in my hair for a matte paste. I'd be curious as to how you feel about this product now since in your videos you seem to fall quicklyin love with a product but cool off as time goes on.
@TDMStyle5 жыл бұрын
True about the glass, I guess I've just been lucky though and have not had one break on me yet. I do think Northern Lights is a bit heavier than other matte pastes out there but I still really enjoy it for more natural/flowy looks.

Matt, how does this matte paste compare to Morris Motley styling balm and Fatboy putty?

@@TDMStyle thanks, I'm ordering a bottle of it. I just got Northern Lights for the first time and can't decide how I feel about it. My hair is naturally pretty thick, so maybe the waxy pastes aren't really ideal for my hair type and I should opt for the heavy clays? I feel like the pastes can just make my hair appear really dry and puffy. But maybe this prestyler will help counter that...

Hey Matt I've been looking for a light clenser i could use every day. I was using Shevoos Oil Clenser but its so expensive for so little product. And Morris Motley clenser is just plain expensive. Do you have any alternative you could recommend?
@TDMStyle5 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried many oil cleansers yet - I know there are others out there but I'm not sure on their pricing or effectiveness. Honestly though with either Shehvoo or MM one, they're expensive but you use such a tiny amount at a time (and not every time you wash your hair either, basically I only use one every 3rd wash or so), so they last a long time.

Odouds Matte paste and Arcadian Matte paste have a much much better Hold. Northern Lights was one of the worst products I have ever tried, on thick hair it was a weak ass hold. and if you use to many scoops to get more hold it weighs your hair down and gets greasy quick......, goes to show how subjective products are on diff hair types.

This versus Monarch ? Based on what you've described, it kinda sounds like Monarch in terms of application, finishing, hold, shineness ( Monarch also has a natural shine too) Hmm.... Usually I'll Monarch-ed as prestyle but fucking hate it as a poststyle, just makes my hair look a bit shine and not much hold. Great video tho ! !
@TDMStyle5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I felt the same about Monarch - for me it was very little hold, too shiny and resulted in weirdly high strand separation instead of a clay-type texture. But I haven't used it in a really long time, so I'd be interested to break it out and test it against some other matte pastes. Maybe a new series of Hair Compare videos this year??
