Is this a reformulated American Gardens? I swear I thought this was an oil-based clay pomade before. Hmm....maybe I'm wrong.

I found it applied a bit better with a few drops of tonic. I have to use 2 scoops as a rule of thumb with anything. Despite the dryness and the tuggable application it works. Not going to be a daily driver for me, but like you in the Coarse Hair Crew it was always going to be a big ask. The search for the one clay to rule them all continues. It’s texture balm for me so far.

Loved the vid. When you were reading the ingredients, it sounded like a styling product for blow outs longhair that is oily or doesn't hold a curl or volume. BY THE WAY your back tangles with dry products because of its growth pattern. You finger brush from root to end from left to right when you go to the back. Start right to left in the back then your usual way. Hopefully that will help. Keep it up.

I have very similar hair, very wavy and a bit long , and like with the hermit clay, i actually couldn't use it because of the tugging the made it so painful and hair pulling. When il get a Sirius haircut il try it again. These kind of products are directed to a specific community that usually blow dry and prestyle what will make these kind of products unusable. The salutation eventually are oil-based clays like lockhart's matte clay, it stars a bit oily/wet because of the petro but in no time it dries and you get that full volume textured look without the impossible application. Additionally, because it's petro based if you add more at the application you can actually get a nice combed neat look, and for me versatility in an expensive hair product is the most important thing.
@TDMStyle4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I definitely enjoy a good oil-based clay as well, for those same reasons. That's why I love Fuertes clay so much - buttery smooth application and still ends up with a matte finish and great texture, leaving my hair soft.

I also have that issue of getting tangled hair when applying clay on my hair. I blow-dry my hair first. Btw I'm using forte. It has a great hold but wish it didn't tug and tangle my hair. Any recommendations?
@TDMStyle4 жыл бұрын
Def recommend prestyling with some type of smoothing product first which should at least help somewhat. Beyond that I'd recommend a few clays that have a really buttery smooth application like: Hustle from TheSalonGuy, Fuertes clay, Earthmade clay pomade. For stronger holding ones, Oasis from Templeton and Stickmore Clay Fiber are great. Stickier at application, but they quickly change and become soft and smooth.

I’ll have to pass on this. Even northern lights kicks my ass with the grip (my bathroom is always cold so I know that hardens my post stylers). I’ve been messing with dauntless grooming oil and odouds sea salt spray to smooth my hair out which has been helping though. I’m trying to delay beating the FF7 remake as I’ll be S.O.L. until trials of mana comes out in a few weeks.

Clint, try the Root & Muddle Clay.. Super creamy, lightest clay I've ever had in my hair, and ⅓ rd of a scoop gets me more hold and volume than 2 scoops of this American Gardens.

Tamas Menyhart man thats exactly what I haven’t been able to find. Something that won’t rip out my skull but can actually do something with my hair haha.
@tamasmenyhart84834 жыл бұрын
@@clint7312 man that stuff is really really crazy good! It's creamy and a super tiny little amount spreads so much that you literally have to use 3 times less than with other products! It's also very nourishing to the hair, doesn't dry it out or anything, rinses out with just water and the hold goes into the next day LOL If you've used Oasis Clay, it's that, but it's lighter in the hair and the hold is even higher (and that one has crazy hold LOL). Another one I really like is the stickmore clay fiber! That one is super smooth to apply, washes out easily, and has really great texture and hold. Hold wise, the root & muddle clay is stronger but the stickmore is aslo a wonderful clay! I alternate products but I tend to reach for root & muddle clay and the stickmore clay fiber and/or the stickmore styling cream the most.
