But yea I agree, whatever the genre people may decide on, we just know that they are just doing great music which we have been waiting for a long time. Koreans know that too and that's why they are being this salty

However xg really is an all-rounder, and their talent is actually a lot more than a lot of current artists. Also please remember said SOME and not all 3rd gen😅

Ex-AVEX CEO Max Matsuura gave the middle finger to the Korean ppl, so the fallout among them is understandable. It's one of the most egregious PR flops I've seen in recent memory. You're sending a majority Japanese group to promote in South Korea and you go flapping your mouth about how you're only using Korean companies to further your company's interests. XG could've had a much warmer reception at first, but their producer had to make it even more of an uphill climb for them than it should've been.

To give a bit of background - These girls are all Japanese, with a half korean japanese ceo Simon Jakops, who used to be an idol himself - they are under the AVEX label umbrella, as a subset label known XGALX. There's been alot of controversy over their group because they chose to not label themselves as Kpop or Jpop. They grew up with a lot of western RNB and Hip Hop from the early 90s and 2000s, thats why they chose to go this direction. "I think a part of it is that the kind of fusion of hip hop and pop that’s such a big part of kpop is less common in Japan - the country has a great hip hop scene, but it’s more it’s own thing and has less of an influence on mainstream pop music. So young musically talented girls who love hip hop, but are more drawn to the glamour of a pop star career than the rap underground, will obviously see a lot more opportunity in Korea, where rappers are integral parts of pop groups, compared to the domestic music industry." - quoted from Reddit Now looking at K-pop- English language songs or hip hop heavy songs are not favored by native Korean masses and marketing as a K-pop group wholly would force a certain definition unto this group and have them compete against industry standard groups. Being Japanese, singing in English, and hip hop, that’s like the K-pop anti trifecta, because if we look at groups who heavily cater to western music - Black Pink, and specially Lisa - Stan’s debate if her music is or isn’t K-pop, and its hard for idols to gain a following if they dont fit a certain mold. XG in another world would debut as a K-pop group, but instead the label is using the reach K-pop currently has to a global audience and using that to get the girls into a more global market. The K-pop industry heavily relies on physical album sales and local tours and shows , CF etc to gauge popularity and power, western pop doesn’t use physical sales albums as much, we stream more than anything, and we don’t have the same structure as K-pop, thus I kinda see why the ceo and label want to go to a hybrid monetization model based on both K-pop and western models, as long as the girls gain more popularity online and get more streams etc that’s the goal, to make them of a more online accessible group than anything, but this has caused some rifts between K-pop Stans and global Stans and Japanese stans, but we are here for the music and the journey not the politics. Also their music video draws a lot of inspiration from Japanese culture - Mario Kart Star, Sonic rings, Hello Kitty, Sailor Moon / Mahou Shojo sequence,The clothes they were are very popular in certain Japanese circles, and their lyrics are meant to have a message, to inspire the listener, and dont forget the Kawaii cutesy theme, if youve listened to Kyary pamyu Pamyu or the recent Wedensday Campanella - Edison you will see it.

What I like about xg Is that they're really authentic it seems like they're really happy with the music that they are currently making it really seems like they really are feeling what they're doing and not being forced to do certain things and having an actual agenda put on them it seems like they really know what they're doing and what I like about them also is that they aren't afraid to put in that girly energy but that masculine energy at the same time They're just swaggy they just know what they're doing. They really remind me of early 2000 black girl groups Like RnB-type thing..but more futuristic. I'm really exited to see them do more

They had 5 years of training prior to their debut. I love that they're not Kpop, they use the system of Kpop but they are ther own thing and true to themselves. You can't put them in a box. They powerful, young and cute but not the lolita kind.

While they r defs new to debut they been killing it so consistently defs agree the cypher and this has sky rocketed their viewing with socials. And they had no really controversies or anything with debut song plus both debut and mascara were consistently good and they have just built onto that so well. Even their predebut content is fire their dance videos they did one for each member to show what styles of dance they like cocona is dope. And they also have a predebut with just harvy and jurin under chill bill remix. The five years they were training defs paid off!
