Fun fact: Cocona has actually shaved her head before, as a kid. She said she loves the style and has wanted to shave her head again for a while but the company wouldn’t let her only because they felt the style didn’t fit their previous concepts. When it came time for this song to drop, they finally felt the shaved head would fit the theme of this comeback so they finally gave her the green flag. Even her parents were down for it.

A whole Japanese group based in Korea! At this point, I legit want all K-pop girl rappers to fight back because xg is eating them up. I came for the XG reaction but loved the BTS reaction intro! Honestly I remember being so excited for BTS, hearing their early cyphers and songs, seeing their choreography and love of hip hop, wanting to see them rise and become world-famous. I feel the same about XG.

Everywhere but very much in Asia, women (especially idols) are not considered attractive with a "boyish" haircut or a shaved head. Longer hair is tied to femininity and beauty in many cultures. Women feel an immense pressure to be perceived as beautiful (being beautiful = having value) so shaving the head is like a f*ck you to gender roles, patriarchy and anyone that wants to put her (or any woman) in a box. That's the impression I got anyway. But art is subjective so it might mean something different to someone else.
