How convenient! I just ordered one of these switch holders and the light bar the other day :) I installed a heated seat on my TW and it has one of those switches. Nice wiring tips! TW or anything else, good job. Not sure what your day job is, but I am guessing a tech, Me: (Aviation A&P, IA), I had to comment. Keeping air and water away from electrical is critical for long term reliability. As a bonus You are adding vibration isolation and damping. Also critical for long term, flying, or riding!

You're doing good, your wiring skills are getting there! You'll be a pro soon 🤣 BTW, since we still live in a (mostly) SAE world here in the US, The Quick-connectors are 1/4", 3/16", and .110" in old fashioned terms. If there was still an American manufacturer of these, that's how they would have listed them. At 3:30, you said it doesn't matter which positive terminal the +12v goes to... Yes, it does, otherwise the LED will be on all the time vs. only on with the switch.
@TDubsKid2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks, yeah either way they fit perfectly. Metric is easier to understand haha thats what I thought too, but the led indicator would turn off with the switch either way you hooked it up. After taking a switch apart, I found the indicator disconnects along with the switch but has and independent switching positive contact.
@genebond2 жыл бұрын
@@TDubsKid Hmmm. Must have the separate contact to avoid any leakage current. I could see where that may be an issue. If you think about it, the way you drew it, the load could discharge through the LED (+ resistor) (slowly, since it's reverse biased) and possibly damage something that was intended to hold a charge. I have some of those switches as well. I'll have to dissect one.
@genebond2 жыл бұрын
@@TDubsKid And, yes, if we had only gone metric back in 1976, when we were supposed to, life would be a lot simpler! Instead, we are in a mixed up system of 'standards' that take up extra space in our heads, where important stuff could be stored 😁

Great video by the way!! Just a suggestion, you may want to upgrade (if you haven't already) your stator. It doesn't take much to exceed the stock output/capacity of the stator's ability to keep the bike powered up. Bottom line, it doesn't take much to overload the stator. Once your stator goes, it will kill your battery and it can take out your voltage regulator in the process. The last thing you want to do is be stuck out on some trail trying to get home at night.

All my accessories are wired to a fused circuit operated by a relay. That way when the ignition key is off, all the electronics power off. What I did was trace the speedo light wire back to its bullet connector and then I made a connector with 2 bullet connector ends...one went back to the speedo light and the other went to the trigger on the relay... I have heated grips and a 12v socket which can power a phone charger or some device with a 12v plug (compressor, etc)

I'm so torn!!! I thought that I wanted a Tw200 for the longest time. But I recently started looking at the Kawasaki Versys X 300, which is more road oriented. And now I can't make up my mind!!! Help me out a bit please?
@anotheryoutuber_2 жыл бұрын
i have the versys300 mainly for the EFI and its manners of the interstate, if the tw had EFI and i stayed off interstates it would be more viable for my 70 plus percent use case. i really love the versys300 and i wouldnt trade it for tw200. if i had the cash and garage for it the tw200 or a royal enfield himalayan either one would be the second machine. thats just my situation though. the tw200 is a great basic machine, the royal enfeild slightly improves on my needs, the versys is the most reasonable (i dont think its as cool, but i think cool and function are on opposite ends of a spectrum) minivans have a crazy amount of utility but well they are minivans and some folks cant handle that. i dont know if this rant helps but id definitely ride each and be honest about what you need then compare that to what you want. they are all able to do adventuring /commuting very well and you can always tweak any of them to sway them to your liking its just best i think to get the one closest to your expectations to start. good luck.
@Hircine1012 жыл бұрын
@@anotheryoutuber_ thanks. I just don't do enough writing to know whether I need a street machine or an off-roader. I don't know if I'm comfortable on the interstate yet. But I also don't know how often I will be camping and going on dirt trails. So it's really hard to commit
@anotheryoutuber_2 жыл бұрын
@@Hircine101 well they all can dabble a little in both arenas, do a little soul searching after test riding. you gotta figure it out somehow and you can always sell the motorcycle if its not for you. better to get the "wrong" machine and give it a go then to always miss out on something you could love. time will march on and its fun to be on two wheels for some of those moments.
