About the voltage drop you saw. It is likely you would see it even with the lights unplugged. At low RPM's the stator output is less. You might just unplug the headlights and see what the voltage is at idle. Another good video, very informative.

Yamaha TW-200E 1999 turn signal unit swap with 2000 turn signal unit... Aloha's, Mike
@TDubsKid4 жыл бұрын
yeah it's blinking faster because the flasher module thinks the blinker is out and that is how it warns you. the leds draw very little current which causes this issue, you need an led flasher module and a small led replacement for your dash indicator light to solve this issue

Hello Tdubs kid. Love your videos! I have a 2011 the white,red and black one. Anyways I got the same cyclops 3800 but for some unknown reason the pattern is terrible. I can’t even ride at night. I just installed 2 auxiliary lights like this video but if I could get the cyclops to beam outwards would be great. How did you get the beam to go straight? I tried turning the bulb a few different ways but no luck. It comes out just scattered. Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Can’t afford a JNS just yet so I’m trying to figure this out. i'm feeling quite limited with my 1987 TW. AC headlight.The worst part is the headlight makes 6vAC at idle, super dim, then full brightness at like 4k rpm, which is still a poor beam anyway. Tough to get the thing set up for long distance touring with such limitations. i switched the turn signals to LED and the tail light+rear turn signals are an LED strip, haven't added up the power savings but it should be significant. incandescents suck
@TDubsKid6 жыл бұрын
ohh that's before they had the electric start dang I think they make a converter so you can run the led headlight bulb on ac

I was thinking about heated grips on the TW200, but not sure if the charging system could handle it!
@TDubsKid6 жыл бұрын
if you convert everything to led it should be a problem, you could always install a voltage meter as well
@bwxmoto6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking if all the bulbs were converted LEDs, that might be enough.. Plus those Yamaha grip heaters have 3 different setting for the size bike you have (not just heat settings), so on the lowest setting for 200cc bikes, the high and medium heat settings don't pull as much wattage. So yeah maybe it is do-able!
@TDubsKid6 жыл бұрын
yeah should be ok, ill be putting heated grips on before too long
@bwxmoto6 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Not sure if you knew about these or not but I just found a little relay module that allows you to use 2 wire LED blinkers and hook them up to three wire running light/ blinker setup. Not sure yet if it'll work on the TW200 but I am thinking it should since even if there are two ground wires you can just run them together. I was looking for it for my XSR900 but should also work for TW200. That would allow LED blinkers up front and still retain running lights. Lower amp draw, and run heated grips without losing front running lights basically. It's about $35 at soloracer do t com "12oClockLabs turn signal running light adapters" . .. I'm definitely getting one for my XSR but figured I might as well hook them up on TW too, then heated grips should be less strain on system. Not sure if they are sold elsewhere yet.

@TheAlpineProject6 жыл бұрын
@@judgemental6147 If you're not already familiar you can use www.it-ideas.net/bike/calc.htm to get an idea of engine/vehicle speed with different sprocket combinations. With 14/42 put in and idle speed chosen as the given RPM it shows you'd need to be moving 4mph or so to keep the engine at idle speed, which is no higher than 1450rpm if I recall. I have 15/44 gearing for street use, which is equivalent to 14/41 I believe, so like 2.5% higher than what you're thinking. I haven't tried it on anything steep yet but I do have to slip the clutch a tiny bit to get moving, especially on a slope. If I put knobbies back on I'd probably try 15/50 (equivalent to 14/47) or something closer to stock like that. The coolest way would be trying the multiple sprocket route, which you can read about on the forum. If you know all this I'm sorry, I just figured it might be helpful.
