Just as I am blessed by finding your channel Adam. I'm disabled and wheelchair dependent the last 5.5 years. I live vicariously through you. Watching your adventures gives me a lot of joy as I will never be able to see the things you capture in your vlog with my own eyes. So a Huge thank you from Indiana. Actually not far from where you did the vlog about Axel Roses house he grew up in. Which coincidently my cousin grew up next to him there in that neighborhood. My Dad was once a famous millionaire car dealer from the south. He was once on the Phil Donahue show many years ago for putting out a "Wanted dead or alive" reward for Khadafy and inviting the Shah of Iran to his personal home. My Dad was most famous for his crazy commercials he did with the late Dusty Rhodes. Anyways~ You're doing so awesome on your new healthy lifestyle Adam! Keep it up! Clocks and watches are usually set to 10:10 because it allows the space for the brand to be seen witch it usually under the 12 or above the 6.

Just Friday, I believe, I was watching/listening to your latest vlog (I have gotten to where I will let it play in the background and just listen as I do things that require me to be up from my computer), and I was reminded of "The Truman Show." +wes ballard In reality, clocks and watches are normally set to 10:00 to frame the logo (i.e. brand name) of the time piece. Back in the 1920's and 1930's it was most common to set the hands at 8:20 for the same reason when time piece logos were most often found at the six o'clock position. Today most logos are located at the 12 o'clock position and hence the reason for hands set at 10:10.

I've noticed the 10:10 in magazine ads also. I think it's done because the hands are in position that allows the viewer to see the name of the manufacturer which is often placed below the "12". And it looks good too!

It's not because of a smile... it's purely Aesthetics. It is the most "open" time for display.... all the numbers are visible, the center is clear for the logo and it's symmetrical.

It's actually done to show the logo of whoever made the clock which would have been in the middle part of the face. The tradition continued to digital clocks just because that's how they had done it for years.

The clocks are set to 10:10 because with wristwatches it showcases the brand name of the watch when photographed for purposes of advertising. The hands are out of the way of where logos would be, under the 12 ands above the six. And now you will never unsee it in a watch advertisement. Take it from a jewelry photographer.

The real reason for the setting? Aesthetics. The 10:10 position gives the clock or watch a number of benefits:The hands are not overlapping, so they're fully and clearly visible and their styling can be admired The arrangement of the hands is more symmetrical, which people generally find more pleasant and appealing.The manufacturer's logo, usually in the center of the face under the 12, is not only visible but nicely framed by the hands. Additional elements on the face (like date windows or secondary dials), usually placed near the 3, 6, or 9, won't be obscured.

I wondered about the clocks being set to 10:10 in the past as well. I asked and what I found out that there are actually a few reasons...all obviously for looks: The 10:10 position is symmetrical, and the brain finds orderliness and symmetry to be attractive. Next, the clock looks happy with the hands set to 10:10...the hands almost making a happy face. In the 10:10 position the hands are kept from overlapping each other as well. There were a couple of more reasons that I can't think of at the moment. I think it's funny how far the merchandising people go in this situation! Great singers by the way...everyone's singing in tune, great arrangement, etc!! Disneyland has always employed some of the greatest musicians in L.A.!!
