I like the idea of mixing mustard with the butter to enhance the flavour.

I am English. Lovely sandwich fillings. In the UK we spread the bread slices with butter before adding the toppings. Tea should be made with boiling water, not boiled water as it needs to be boiling to properly infuse the tea. Most times we would use tea bags these days, unless you’re at a high end establishment where you may be offered loose tea as you have served. At home we would use tea bags, maybe Earl Grey as well as black tea. We NEVER use warm milk in tea, by the way. Scones would traditionally be served with clotted cream, which is a much thicker cream than double cream, or what you would know as whipped heavy cream. There is a great debate between Devon and Cornwall as to which gets spread first, the jam or the cream. Either way is delicious. Thank you for sharing your ideas,very elegant.

TY for sharing. This may be afternoon tea in some country but it is certainly not England. Formal afternoon tea is a much more elaborate affair. Please put fresh boiling water into your tea and warm the pot beforehand. We never use warm milk in tea my dear. Keep going with your research for future videos though you have a pleasant voice. Regards Kate

Very nice video, I love your teapot so pretty; your whole table setting is beautiful.. In England we use cress in our egg sandwiches usually (not watercress) and don't use onions or chives, and we butter our breads. I haven't seen the smoked salmon minced like that either but it will taste just as nice. Yummy.

Other instructional afternoon tea videos say don't puck up the saucer when seated at the table. You only do that if you're going to stand and walk around. On another note, I lived how you wrapped the mix sandwiches with a strand of chives-- like a present. So cute! The decorations, especially the roses, make the food look even more appetizing! So nice.

It was the Industrial Revolution, and the man of the house working late, that necessitated late family dinners and therefore inspired afternoon tea.

The quickest way to peel the shell of the boiled eggs is to rinse under cold water in same pot straight from the stove. No need for ice or anything. Let it sit in the pot of cold water for at least 10-15secs before peeling. Comes off easy peasy.

Always milk first when having tea this way
@leglistux203 жыл бұрын
No this is not necessary. It was milk first in the old days for lower class since they drank out of clay cups. Hey didn’t want to add in the hot liquid first so they put the milk in to cool it down to not shatter the mugs. Upper class always had fine China so they put tea in first. Me personally, I like to add tea first to dissolve the sugar and add milk to my liking.

The egg salad sandwich is much healthier and better tasting without the extra mayonaisse on the bread. The extra mayonaisse is a turn off for me because you've got enough mayonaisse in the egg salad.
