I love history lessons from Mark! Please do more videos like this on whatever interests you...martial arts, weapons, crazy stuff people did to be able to ride a horse and swing a sword without killing themselves, etc. There are other nerds out there who enjoy this kind if info.

Ive lived in London a long time now. A few years ago I went to Cuba on holiday. A few days in and we’d finished the tea bags we brought. We searched FRANTICALLY throughout Havana and finally found some in some sort of pharmacy. Was such a relief! Never again will I travel without enough tea!

Mark . The Beer thing is correct BUT . There was 1st beer , 2nd beer and 3rd beer , 1st being the real strong stuff . The same mix of yeast and barley .wheat , hops was left it was used again a second time hence 2nd beer , weaker in alcohol but still drinkable . Same goes for 3rd beer , this was drunk all the time as it had nearly no acholic content but was safe water to drink .

A cool potted history (and I believe your summary was pretty accurate) I work in remote areas in Africa for several months at a time. Like you say, the water is bad quality and sometimes tastes grim. I buy up on my favorite tea before I go so I can keep hydrated and not get amoeba, typhoid, etc! Only thing is my kettlebells and mace cannot go with me as too much weight...

you can't take a 15lb mace. an hour of the clock of 15lb mace is great. look at a hydro core and a brute force sandbag

Pretentious distinction: technically "tea" is reserved for brewed leaves of the camellia sinensis plant. Black tea, green tea and white tea all come from the same plant and are just processed differently. Anything else brewed in hot water would be called a "tisane." No one really knows that word though, hence the other term "herbal tea."

Great bit. In about 7 min. there was stuff that took me about 7 yrs. (and many other videos) to gather-up. ...And maybe one or two nuggets that were new! ...Now have to go and dig-thru the cabinets to find that Moroccan mint tea that forgot about a while ago :-)

La Croix and other lightly flavored carbonated waters are fine for you, unless you're drinking 10 in a day in which case they can be kinda bad for your enamel. I always suggest SpinDrift to people. Natural flavors and are delicious if you're trying to kick a soda or beer habit and want something bubbly to sip on at the end of a work day. Love the channel, cheers.

Interesting video, but prompts the question: if tea was mainly drunk to make water safer/ not taste like crap (literally) / add nutrients missing from your diet, but you now have access to clean, nice tasting water and good nutritious food... wouldn't you be better off just drinking water? Thanks for the content btw - your kettlebell instructions are the clearest I've seen.

entertaining :D however, reminds me how valuable it is that you can drink the tap water right away here in Germany. If you grow up with that, you take it for granted, but it isn't in the most part of the world. So I don't have necessarily to make tea if I want to drink something free and sugar-free :D but I love tea too

well he said to avoid pay for water and to avoid sugar containing drinks. however it doesn't apply to everyone, because in some parts of the world you can drink the tap water without boiling it and it is tasty without chlorine taste. I don't know how common this is, I think in the USA they have usually too much chlorine in it to drink it without cooking?

I only drink cold brew coffee i make. Its like a tea. But the only tea i like is hibiscus flower tea or coffee fruit tea. Cold brew your teas. Heat kills antioxidants and your just tasting tannins. Look into it.

I clicked for health tips and got a history lesson. Is there no end to your helpful information? As a Brit I drink both Tea and Coffee, a choice that is based on what time of day it is surely? We used to run the world but realised it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, that was mainly when the indigenous locals stopped throwing fruit at us and started throwing spears. It all got a bit tiresome. So we passed the baton to the Americans who've been doing a reasonably good job since. However now there's a Trump in charge it's probably time for someone else to take over responsibility.
