I have the TEAC TN-5BB top model and it is an excellent turntable. It's a shame this brand isn't more recognized and reviewed.

When using an external phono stage, will you set it on THRU, and using whatever input on your Amp except the phono input?

Yes, it does have a detachable headshell.

The cherry version looks really great. Integrated phono reamp and the cartridge are not really usable.
