Teacher Tip Summer Series | Nametags

Happy summer! I'm so excited to share this series on classroom hacks for teachers. In this video, I talk about one of my favorite "school tools" in the classroom - nametags! I made a template that's easy to edit, print, and prepare to help you get back to school with little effort.
I've always believed that everything in the classroom shouldn't just look pretty or function as decoration, but should also serve a purpose. In my classroom, student nametags are for more than just names. We use it as a school tool for many other learning objectives too!
These nametags have 3 layers and provide lots of reference tools for the students - from the months of the year to shapes, skip counting and place value, to digraphs and sight words! The layers simply stack on top of each other and get inserted into a plastic sleeve, which is super helpful for saving desk space. Students can then use the tabs to pull out the layers and see all of the fantastic learning tools.
I encourage my students to use their nametags a.k.a. school tools as a reference throughout the year. Nothing beats seeing them become independent little learners as they learn to figure out answers on their own with the help of their name tags! Those proud smiles are so worth it!!
