I know this game as "Concentration." It is indeed a great teaching game. And I'm really poor at it, so my students usually beat me, which makes them feel GREAT! If I may suggest a different way to teach the game: Instead of verbally explaining it, simply model it. Lay the cards down, then be the first player. After you pick up the first card, say what it is. As you go for the second card (in the other group of cards), keep repeating what the first card was, dramatizing the idea that you want to find its match. You probably won't, so act very disappointed. Then assign another person to go next. They should be able to just follow your example. Once someone finds a match, you can just say, "Great! OK, now you get to go again!"
