I'm considering becoming a primary school teacher. I currently work as a geologist and I'm so fed up, I dread going into work everyday. I started volunteering as a STEM ambassador and visit schools teaching the kids about different topics and love every minute of it. Thanks for sharing, it's content like this which really helps me understand the realities of teacher life

Getting home at 6 pm with a lot of work still to do, sounds like my life in a high school as well! An interesting account of your week, there is ALWAYS something else to do. ☀️

Thank you for your vlog, it was very helpful. I am starting a Primary PGCE, in September. This has given me an understanding of preparing, and organizing learning resources effectively in the classroom.

Hi, really glad to have found your vlogs! I'm in the final year of my undergrad, and have made a slightly last-minute decision to apply for PGDE Primary. By no means a rash or uninformed decision, mind you - having previously worked with primary children of all year groups and loved the experience, as well as having a languages degree and training in special needs support, I feel I have a lot to bring to the profession. I'm really excited in general and champing at the bit to get in, but the one thing making me slightly nervous at this stage is that working with and relating to very early primary children (I think you'd call it reception in England? Ages 4/5/6 anyway) didn't seem to come naturally to me when I used to help out in primary classes, and I didn't feel as comfortable among them as I did with the rest of the year groups. As I gained more experience, it did get easier and I did start to enjoy it, but I definitely found it more daunting than working with even the slightly older children. As it's been a while since that experience, I worry that if I do get accepted this year, those nerves are going to return and I'm going to have to re-learn everything I discovered. I just wondered if you also felt less comfortable with a particular year group, and if so, how did you overcome this? Did you find training, experience or something else most valuable in making you feel more at ease? Really look forward to hearing from you :)

I remember when we did the wolves in the walls when I was in like year 1 or 2 and I was terrified of the wall next to my bed for at least a year. I would sleep on the edge of my bed furthest from the wall 😂😭

I subscribed and liked with notifications on👍🏻! I’m a year 11 student in secondary school! I want to be a teacher in primary school and I live in the uk 🇬🇧 too😇! Also, what is your policy for the toilet? 2 of my teachers allow toilet privileges with a toilet log to monitor the usages! The other 2 teachers don’t allow toilet breaks during class. I use the toilet during lunch, recess, and before school and I stay well hydrated ma’am! I’m a kid who only ask when I genuinely really need to use the toilet maybe 2-3 times a week in the classes with privileges which honestly I’m so thankful for it😊🚽! There a few kids who try and abuse my teachers privileges for us🤦🏻♂️. Other classes where I don’t get that privilege I have to hold it for a hour or more and run to the toilet once it’s break! I love the videos and I am excited for future content on your channel!

hey ive always thought about primary education but always been apprehensive as ive heard its a lot of work.. just wondering like you know like sheets and stuff that u are giving out for the children to do and like the boards and stuff where do u get these or do u have to make them all yourself?! i started adult nursing but underneath know i hate it and don't have satisfaction but i also don't know about primary education as im scared i won't be able to do it cos i am not creative at all and creating sheets like that seems impossible cos i wouldn't know where to start.. i understand u are given certain topics you have to cover with the children but how do u know what to put on the sheets or do u get these sheets from somewhere? for me it just seems a bit daunting cos im not the most creative so or organised so i always thought maybe its not for me cos it would require alot of that :/

A lot of resources are available online and you can always ask other staff for support or where they get theirs I know when I did work experience in a school they would sometimes pull sheets from the internet and they also mass planned together so they all used the same sheets

I was terrified going into it! There are amazing resources online or you can take inspo from teacher insta/the internet!

Drying up when speaking and having to think quickly in front of a huge class is the worst But follow up chat and reference material helps loads Also the children throwing answers always keeping the flow going Also remembering names Dealing with fidgeting, or the back room silly behaviours

i haaaaaate it! I find myself planning alongside it and using it as the absolute bare bones. Very worksheet based & repeats itself lots xx

Do you have to create every lesson from scratch or do you reuse other teachers PowerPoints or something else? Thank you
@happywithmissh4 жыл бұрын
hiiiiii, I sometimes do a bit of both. Mainly create my own because I want them to be relevant to my class but twinkl etc their powerpoints are amazing so i tweak them x
