Depending on your needs for that manifold, you might consider cutting it off at the runner flange and turning it upside down. That's what I did on my RWD 4G63 swap. It's really not that much more welding and you can clean up several things on the manifold. As far as his throttle body and throttle cable solution, you can remove the stock idle control valve and turn the throttle body upside down. I run a Nissan idle valve that is essentially the same as a 4G63 unit with a slightly different wiring connector. Several companies make idle control valve block off plates. The stock unit has coolant that runs through it, and that kind of sucks for swaps.

Clamp the part....clean and lubricate the saw, maybe also use a plate with a guide hole for the hole saw to stay true and perhaps use a drill with a side handle. I like my expensive parts, including my body parts to stay intact.
@Comm0ut
@Comm0ut Жыл бұрын
Horizontal milling machines aren't expensive and could be quite handy for such jobs. Bolt the intake to the table and do your will with precision. Horizontal milling adapters also exist for knee mills like Bridgeports which are common and affordable. Another more portable option is a mag drill and various plates and angle blocks. They'll turn all sorts of cutting tools and holesaws with solid workholding.

My friends know everything there is about tig and they have never laid a single bead 😅. I started out trial and error, got some theory from you and Jody on YT, more practice and now I can at least judge beforehand if this will look good or not. The hardest part for me is cast aluminium, they are so different and a weld that looks simple can be a pain, but I'm getting there. The right thing is throwing you into it, learn, get the feel.

Doesn't take much to find a chunk of wood or whatever to help prevent a power tool from tearing a part out of your hand. Take a minute to think about "how do I prevent a kick out", "what can I do to prevent making more work for myself". and most important "how do I avoid getting hurt".
