Nice, I do this sometimes in my classes. It's fun to see their reactions haha Kids may not know the term beatbox, but quite a few know it as voice percussion or ボイパ for short. These days it's a lot more popular in Japan.

tadj cazaubon Hello. It is not probable. The weaboo desease afects us on a global scale. The only explanation I can think of is that they must have a very good anti- weaboo barrier strung up around the school.

Hey man, I`m also teaching English in Japan, and I liked that. I recognise it all too well that when you throw a question into the classroom you can might as well ask the cat. Same reaction. They`ll just stare back at you. Only if you tell them what to mimick they`ll imitate you, right? I am a drummer, and I once did something like what you are doing. Sort of. Later I even got the main teacher to sing his favourite song with me. You should have seen the looks on those face then! Keep it up!

Weird. It's a Japanese classroom but nobody in the class carrying sword around, and neither are the colourful haired people. Ok, I understand why there are no cyborg girls in class, since those are pretty rare, but isn't it normal for every Japanese classroom to have atleast one person with supernatural power ?

They're saying picture, which is "e" (as in the first "e" in "Envelope") followed by "ga which is a particle". He began writing "beat box" and then continued drawing a picture. They must've been wondering what was it that he was going to write next and realized it was a picture, therefore "絵が" (e ga)which roughly translated would be "It's a picture!".
@demetriusdaniel61906 жыл бұрын
i thought they were calling him N*gga
@nicholasgill52365 жыл бұрын
I thought they thought it was "movie" because the drawing initially resembled a roll of film.
@seans71173 жыл бұрын
In case you guys are still wondering what the students said in this part, they indeed said 絵が, but you got it wrong. One of them continued マシュー絵心無い which roughly means "Matthew, you are so bad at drawing lol". And what you are saying in the last part of your comment is actually 絵か!(E ka ! = It's a picture!), not 絵が (E ga = The picture is...). And most importantly, almost all Japanese don't know even the existence of N words...
@seans71173 жыл бұрын
Thanks for explaining tho. Japanese have tendency of trying not to argue with people so we haven't clarified about this point. In this point, WE ARE NOT RACISTS.

Dude this was awesome. I just got back from working as a CIR in Hokkaido. I taught adult eikaiwa and we had several discussions about beatboxing. I WISH I'd taught at schools after seeing this video lol If you're interested, I have some videos up of me performing as a beatboxer in Hakodate. Where are you based? You should consider exploring the Hip-Hop scene near you :)

Only two and a half years. But I`ve already done so many different things. Teaching kids from 3 to 63. Yeah, you are right about the class. I had one higschool where every class had it`s own tempo and atmosphere. Or...don`t they all? How about you. I should do with my drumming what you are doing with the beat box. Although, I could maybe do some stuff too. The kids are so easily impressed.
