There is definitely discrimination on nationality as well, not just race - some companies actually ask for "white" dominant country passports.

Facts! I am Certified in America with 25 years experience and a Masters degree and although The British International school kept advertising over and over indicating there is an opening, they kept denying me stating they prefer teachers with British experience as a cover.

You can have some decent chances with small time language centers. Just go up to these centers in person, and talk to the concerned staff and hand over your cv. Your passport should do the talking, since you have a US passport.

I heard the pay scale in the Philippines is really low. Yeah, you can get BPO jobs there easily. Since, Philippines is the number one global call center hub for US accounts.

If so their criticism is absolutely nonsense

Nope us South Africans r no longer considered native speakers. Thailand is not worth coming to teach in even as a native speaker. The salaries r shite, most of the time no benefits and it's actually become quite expensive to live here. Just not worth it anymore!!
