I never thought i would miss the smell of perm solution. My mom passed away about 15 years ago, she was a hairdresser and amazing at it. I remember watching her do perms on little old ladies with really short purple or gray hair, and just being amazed by her precision on such little hair. I still cant walk into a salon without taking a deep breath and being reminded of her. The horrible smell of perm solution reminds me of my childhood long lost but forgotten.

omg my mom was a hairdresser too! She had a little one-woman salon in our house for most of my life, and I loved hanging out with her and her customers. She showed me how to roll perm rods on my American Girl doll, and even taught me how to trim her own hair. She's been gone for 10 years, but we still have stuff from her shop in the basement. I use a few of her old tools and equipment when I color my hair, so I like to think she's still helping me. Children of hairdressers, unite!

This is seriously making me want a perm. I've had many perms, going back to the 80s. But I haven't had one in several years. My stylist always tries to talk me out of it. But my hair is very healthy, I always air dry it, hardly ever use any heating styling products on it. It is colored but I'm starting to let my natural wisdom highlights take over and I love them.
