I bought a bmw e46 manual, only drove automatic before, had my license since 2 months, drove trough Zürich down to the south of the Alpsnfor about 150 miles... the highway was easy, driving trough a busy city with traffic stalling at avery green light a couple of times... oh mann the honks...

To be honest the mustang with the v8 is really easy To get going in a smaller car with a smaller engine it's way harder

I always tell people, sports cars are by FAR the easiest vehicles to drive manual. Light with a lot of power means you can literally start using just the clutch on flat surfaces vs a jeep or big truck where you really have to make sure you’re giving it enough gas to not stall.

My kids first car is a stick, and I have started teaching. I admit I laugh a bit. Also started teaching how to drive in the snow. Going to safe open parking lots and showing how to best maintain control if slipping etc.. It's been fun. Totally impressed. Most people stall the engine many times while learning

My first stick shift was a 05 mustang gt with a short throw shifter in it and i learned by going forward and backward in my driveway at first then in the neighborhood for about a week.

One thing that definitely helps when learning manual is having a car with a bigger motor that has more torque so that it’s harder to stall, if it’s stock. Because when I was learning manual in my Corolla I stalled hella times before I got it down because of how little torque a 1.8 makes at such low rpm. But nonetheless she did pretty good.

Learned on a 1.3 Chevy Aveo with the exhaust coming straight out the headers. For a 1.3 it was surprisingly loud

Great teacher here. Definitely DON'T tell people to give it gas and let the clutch out at the same time. That's what my mom told me to do when she taught me, and I stalled it a million times. You don't have to give the car ANY pedal to get rolling in a MT car. Once I learned that, I never stalled because of that again. You will always still stall your cars every now and then. No matter how good you are or how experienced you are.

i learned in a blue 90 miata with a terrible clutch while my dad got pissed off at me for stalling etc still not the best at slipping the clutch and giving it gas at the same time normally just rev up to 2kish and let the clutch out but been driving stick since i got my license so 3 years comfortably and hopped from a miata to a mustang and drove it 2 hours home in the rain with no wipers sooo i think im good not counting my little mini truck i had for a bit as well i just wont drive an auto unless absolutely needed
