Teaching my Wife to Drive a Stick

It took me quite a bit to learn stick. My mom is used to it so she wasn’t the best teacher and forgot some stuff. But between practice and watching some KZbin videos on it I got it. The main thing that I was having trouble with was stalling on any sort of hill. Then I learned you can do half clutch and/or flutter it with gas so you don’t stall. When I was first learning I thought it was all or nothing. Now I can’t imagine not having at least one manual car at all times. Both my daily drivers are 5 speed manuals: 1997 VW Passat TDI and 2007 Subaru Outback

This is the cutest, stress, calmest, patient teaching I've ever seen of learning something new like driving a manual car. Matej is such a good, supportive, and patient teacher. Kayla did sooooo great for her first try. I tried learning stick with my dad and also was stressed about when to change gears and letting off the clutch and pressing gas at the same time.

Back in the day when most of the cars in Europe didn't have an rpm counter the general rule about changing gears was, first gear from 0-20km/h, second gear from 20-40km/h, third gear from 40-60km/h and so on.
