Interesting to watch this very energetic dog who does not seem to pant or open his mouth when he leaps about or when he is offered a toy. I've never seen this! He is clearly very athletic and could do agility - great looking dog!

Yes.Ware ya dog out nd recall does not have to be trained.Ya dog will build a ralasionsjip nd needs no training of recall.FACT.

You still make a sound when you want it to come back to you right? Thats a recall.. Or are you communicating telepathically? Lol. But you're right, if your dog associates fun with you, he probably won't disobey your recall. But it's still better to practice because he just didnt encounter a large enough distraction.
