Honestly, your talk is an eye-opener, sir. The fact that we human beings have many dreams that can't be be reached at the same time, we must find something that makes us happy so that we won't regret it. I watched many videos about time-management but the reality is that we have finite time just like what you said. I'm really thankful for your speech sir, and I hope there are more topics that you could cover, like psychology, such as how the brain works or how to control or regulate our emotions.

Even tho this video was intended to be for teachers, your speech has helped me a lot as a high school student. During my freshman and early sophomore year, I wanted to be the best I can be at once, only to become depressed because I couldn’t do everything I wanted. You helped me accept the fact that I can’t have a million hobbies and friends and have straight A’s in my classes at the same time. Thanks for publishing this video Heimler!

Loved this philosophical hot take. Honestly, it’s not only great advice for me to teach my students, but also to work on better embodying in my own life. I want to read that book!

In these times where social media is very prevelent in our society, it really seems like people ARE doing it all. It can be hard not to compare yourself and feel that urge to strive for that by setting unrealistic expectations for yourself. For me, that's when the "overwhelmed" feeling begins. I really liked this video!

I'm just about done with my third yearly iteration of teaching AP World History, and this hits home. I've been teaching as many as five or six AP classes at a time (not exactly of my own volition...) and the overwhelm is no joke, but I see it in my students too -- amplified, because they are younger and have arguably fewer coping mechanisms -- and I feel sad for them. But I fear the future even more because if tech has advanced this far in our day, imagine growing into adulthood in a society full of AI doing a trillion processing hijinks a minute. And to think, I've had professors reminisce about when they turned in their typewriters for their first PC! It boggles the mind, the drastic changes we've witnessed in our lifetimes... We're living through one of the wildest transitions in human history yet... and no one has any map of where we're being led blindfolded. We're at the tail end of industrialization and the cusp head of something else, it's not the "information revolution" or some handy name like that... this is some new territory our students' generation is entering and it is uncanny. I don't know what to think about it honestly. Sometimes I feel like a sham like the blind leading the blind and that contributes to the overwhelm. Anyways it's good to see that I am not alone with struggles and notions of this sort, and I appreciate all your videos as always...! :)

Love it! Thank you for saying it out loud ... Now how can we get our schools to assist, our parents to assist and our students to assist with reversing this existence.... Ggrrrr...

I'm sort of thinking of becoming an AP history tutor remotely but want to make sure it is in demand.

If it is impossible for me to do everything, why then is everything expected of me? Ponder that paradox. How can the finite be measured against the infinite, and yet, still be found wanting?

hey, do you think AP online tutors are in demand compared to ESL for example?

I like the message, however, I wonder why do some teachers give so much homework? A lot of times is not even rigorous, is it just to ensure the students are reading? Also, why do academic advisors not limit the number of AP classes a child can take? From some comments here and from my experience as a mother of a student who wants to strive for excellence, it seems like teachers know that taking three or four AP classes is too much.

A problem I see with this is actually some parents, not the students. The pressure from parents for the student to "do it all" and still get good grades can be so much on these kids. No matter how much the kid realizes life is finite, parents push them like it's not.

Imagine trying to manage money without knowing how much money you had. Or worse, believing that it is infinite! Trying to manage time while not grasping that we have a finite amount of it must be the same. Our desires are infinite and our time is not, we have to make hard, permanent choices with the opportunity cost of entirely different lives and futures. That's a huge weight for adults to bear, let alone children.
