every horse should know this. movement of the head/neck does not equal movement of the feet. this could save your life in an emergency.

There's definitely many ways to do it, good thing to stay open minded and think about what works best. I would be cautious not to lose balance when leaning forward. Behind the leg makes sense if trying to turn their head far. What I like about not going too far with my hand is that it gives me a little extra space if I do need to turn my horse's head tighter. Completely agree with dropping the outside hand, I've noticed one of the most common mistakes when learning this is pulling w/ the outside

Great video! I was working on this but kept having to lean forward to grab the rein and it threw me off balance. The simple trick of lifting with the other hand is great thanks so much!

This is great and all, but how do you stop a horse that can canter straight with her head all the way around to your foot? I've got one of those.

Me too 😂🤣 She'll just canter sideways...

So to learn this, does a horse need to be able to turn off leg ques or neck rein already? otherwise wouldn't it be very confusing to the horse, when to stop and when you're asking for a turn?

I teach this first before the leg cues. this teaches them the principle of not pulling against an opening rein. Since there are no leg cues, they figure out that you are not asking for a turn.

Is this better to use than the pulley rein?
@syedmisbah71654 жыл бұрын
No, pulley rein is better

You will find that one has better communication with the horse by keeping one's hands in the 10" box.
