Kyle, I found this on the listing on Amazon.US for this board 2)Because the fan on the SKR Mini E3 V2.0 control board is a CNC fan, you need to set the wind speed before using it. (Note: V2.0 version of the fan is not ready to use after power on) This looks like BS to me as I can't find any documentation online to support this claim, I did however find issues of people receiving boards with faulty MOSFET's and think this could be some type of getting out for the retailer trying to make people think they have done something wrong with their board, My board worked fine out of the box

My son chose to buy the Ender 3 Pro in August based on channels like this and the comments from owners. We've had a straight forward climb from build to very high quality prints in multiple filament types and never looked back. I'm extremely grateful to this channel and the comments from users about their experiences and ideas. There is no way the journey would be as easy as it has been without all of you. Yes it's a bunch of work, careful watching and reading etc, but still no big issues of any sort, and the print quality,,, wow. We upgraded during the build process ( extruder, bed springs,and wheels etc ) , I can't say enough about the value of the learning process , maintenance details and understanding the role of each component that this channel has provided. We use Solidworks to design, those drawings are done very differently had we not had the overall printing experience the Ender ( any good printer ) has provided. It forced us to do small upgrades incrementally and really understand printer setup and tuning adjustment. Best Wishes to all who contribute and Thank You !!

I have a stock Ender 3 Pro. I didn't know it could be upgraded with sensor-less homing, wi-fi or a touchscreen! This video is awesome. I will definitely be looking for the upgrade parts per your recommendations. I'm just as excited to modify the printer as using it to make 3D prints. I really enjoy my Ender 3 Pro and I'm a complete newbie to this hobby (that's what it is for me at the moment). But, I really like designing my own parts to fix things around my home and simply trying out new ideas. I have a sincere trust in your information because you demonstrate how thorough you are and that's incredibly important to me. After I watch your videos, I don't have to guess at what choice to make. I simply have to decide where to buy from. Thanks for your continued efforts on the Ender 3 Pro and please continue to educate those of us looking to learn more about the printer itself and printing techniques, tips, etc. Thank you.

I recently bought an Ender 3 (my first 3D Pinter) and was looking for ways to upgrade it. I started watching your videos while researching printers. Once I got it and started printing, I knew I wanted to quiet it down. So I got the SKR Mini E3 v2.0 and TFT35 E3 V3.0 and installed them. Holy shiznit! It’s so much quieter. The touch screen feels like it belongs in this century. Now I’m looking forward to add a BLtouch and filament run out sensor. I just wanted to let you know that your videos have been helpful and informative as I venture into this new hobby. So, thank you and keep making great videos. :)

I bought the mini E3 largely because of your video, and I was blown away by how much better the printer performed with it compared to the stock board, particularly regarding noise. I've recommended it to a couple friends as the first upgrade they should buy for their printer, and they've been happy with it as well. Through my journey in printing I've watched your videos, so thank you for helping educate me and many others in the community. I started looking deeper into duet boards a week or two before your video on them, and they seem quite promising and offer several things that marlin doesn't have yet; it would be interesting to see how using a duet in an ender 3 impacted performance and usability. Happy Printing!

I've just upgraded my Ender 3 pro to the SKR min V2.0. Only 2 small issues when using octoprint. I didn't get any comms via the USB port, I'm using a pi 4 and the USB operation has changed. Evidently you need to add "over_voltage=1" to /boot/config.txt of the pi, I had no issues with the stock ender board and the pi so it must be different on the SKR card. Secondly, something I was going to get around to on the previous board but didn't was to put a slither of polyamide/kapton tape on the +5v contact on the USB cable so the pi is not powering the main board. I had false overheat protection alarms from the printer if you turn the main power off on the printer with the nozzle still hot. I didn't get that with the previous board so assume overheat protection wasn't enabled although the version of firmware supported it, it was the stock Ender firmware. I believe thre are other issues around powering the board form the pi, here's a good reference github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-SKR-mini-E3/issues/41

I have no idea why but there is often a delay between 10 and 30 sec before the print stops and while I don't use this much, when I want to stop a print, I want it stopped NOW! 2: It may be the lack of motor sound but now the other fans sound SUPER loud. Wow I just installed this last night and it’s working great so far. I have the EZABL so I had to do a little extra work with the firmware. My direct drive arrives tomorrow which I purchased because of your MDD video. I also printed the HMG5 with dual 5015 fans. You’ve taken my printer way farther than I ever thought it could go.

I ordered this the same day I ordered my Ender 3 Pro. I like the board - much quieter than the OEM part, more features, etc. I installed a bltouch v3.1 and wanted to keep my z endstop, so I tried to use the probe ports as indicated in the manual (the "1st way" as indicated in the video). This never worked with the BTT-compiled firmware or my own custom Marlin build: the probe would self-test, deploy/retract, but WOULD NOT TRIGGER at all. I checked, re-checked, and checked the wiring again - it was all correct. I plugged the probe wires into the z endstop pins, et voila! it worked. YMMV.
@oriongaby
@oriongaby 4 жыл бұрын
This has always been kind of a problem with every BTT board that has both a Z-endstop and a Probe pin. I can't remember the details correctly but the way the firmware is written you needed to do some hacky changes to the code to make it work the way you want. I think there have been attempts at introducing config settings to change the behavior but I'm not sure what's the current status since my printer has been down for a couple months.

I Also purchased and installed an SKR Mini E3 V 2.0. Now I need quieter fans. One thing you did not mention was that the positive voltage and ground terminals are backward when compared to the original Creality board. This applied to the input voltage, hotend fan, hotend heater, bed heater and the BLtouch servo connector. I had to re-wire the BLtouch's 3-pin connector due to this polarity reversal relative to Creality's original BLTouch upgrade kit. Also, there is another firmware file in BTT's github which does use the BLtouch as the Z-axis endstop, without requiring the original Z-axis endstop be present.

Teaching Tech - when you receive your BTT 24V UPS, can you please do a follow-up review on how to make the UPS work with the SKR-Mini E3 V2.0? BTT provides documentation on necessary Marlin fw modifications, but doesn't say where on the board to connect the UPS. Also, I haven't found definitive information on the internet on how to correctly connect and use that BTT UPS.

I'm a complete noob at this and haven't received my board yet, but here are the changes I've made to hopefully get this to work... //#define USE_CONTROLLER_FAN (in configuration_adv.h), #define E0_AUTO_FAN_PIN FAN1_PIN (in configuration_adv.h), CONTROLLER_FAN_PIN -1 (in pins_BTT_SKR_MINI_E3_V2_0.h) It compiles fine at least. Guess I have to wait until the board gets here to see if it works. If it does work, I plan to put a 12V low noise fan and buck converter in the case.

Good luck getting the EZABL Pro working with this board. TH3D's support page only points to a "Vanilla" support web page on compiling your own firmware. Only problem is the config from BTT has bugs, and building the config directly from Marlin also failed as a result from bugs within PlatformIO. Considering that BLTouch is supported directly from BTT, I would STRONGLY recommend users follow that route.

I had real trouble with a cheapy 3 wire filament sensor with the SKR mini E3 v 2.0 and Marlin 2.0. Plugged in as per the wiring pinouts on the board and the sensor and uncommented the line in config.h as mentioned in the video. Although the sensor itself was fine and was reporting correctly via M117, filament change kept triggering between homing and ABL, and I couldn't fix that no matter what I did in Marlin config or as startup code in Cura. I also tried deactivating the sensor via the LCD and that still didn't work. In addition the filament change triggered was only heating to 170 and then trying to push filament so before I realised it, I'd not only worn gears on the extruder but had filament blowouts at both the nozzle end and at the top of the heat sink. In the end I had to replace a nozzle, the bowden tube, both bowden connectors and clean sticky goo from inside the heat sink and heat break, wasted an afternoon of installing the sensor. Something's not right but I can't figure out why this combination of board, sensor and Marlin is doing this. :(

At 4:26 on the wiring diagram, if blue and yellow part cooling fan cable is connected there and the main-board (red/black) cooling fan is connected as shown also, the part cooling fan will not turn off and cannot be controlled through the controller. From what i have seen, loads out there have the same issue as me.
