Many ideas for speech therapy activities found on SLPs blogs look great until... you realize that they are TOO HARD for toddlers with developmental differences. In this 1.5 hour course, learn four kinds of games to use for your youngest clients during speech therapy at home and in clinical and preschool settings. We'll review why we should include structured games during sessions with toddlers, which games work best for various target populations, which skills are targeted with each kind of game, and how to introduce the game for maximum success.
For speech-language pathologists, other early interventionists, and parents of toddlers and preschoolers with speech-language delays

Laura I am a SLP with 40 + years experience working with children with speech and language delays and disorders. I love your videos and wish they had been available when I was starting out.

What to do as a grandparent? What you have taught really works. I even had my grandson say a word when i used expression on my face and pointed to an object and said what the object is. He repeated the name of the object. Parents also need to put in the effort to teach your methods to their children. At least pick a little time each day to play these engaging language games. Its not enough to leave it up to the school, the speech therapist, etc. Parents need to be on board as well, grandparents, those who are involved with the child. I wish i could help my grandchild more. Your methods work! I'm so grateful. However, my grandchild and his parents have moved away. They are no longer close to me in distance. We are about 4 1/2 hrs away from each other. My grandson came home with marks on his ankles due to an aid at the school tying his shoes too tight. This upset all of us and the parents went to speak to the school about this. This is the problem when a child cannot communicate. He is not able to say that soneone tied his shoes too tight. My grandson in my opinion needs more interactive play with others to help him with language.

This is great! I have used all of these games in therapy, but I really like having the words to explain to parents why I do it.

@@BeautifulChoas1 Yes, it's normal to explain things. Sometimes it's hard to do it in a parent-friendly way. I always appreciate watching someone explain something I do in a parent-friendly way.

Thank you so much for this I have 3 year old twins who are both diagnosed with autism and aren't speaking, yet. I really struggle sometimes to find games or activities to do with them and this has given me a lot of new things to try

I am a marriage and family therapist and i would like to purchase some of your work books and materials, etc so i can speak about them to my patients who may have children who need this kind of assistance. I can become more knowledgeable with your material so i can better explain the basics of your methods to them so they can purchase your helpful materials. Thank you. I will have to look at what i can purchase from your site.

Thanks Laura. You are fantastic. I have a little problem. My grandson of 18 months, responds to my non-verbal imitation games by insisting that I repeat the act, instead of his imitating the act. What to do?
@teachmetotalk
@teachmetotalk Жыл бұрын
Repeat him and then try to get him to do it again - like you're creating a back and forth exchange. After a while, he will begin to copy you. Start EASY - like clapping or hitting the floor or anything that is super simple for him. Try to keep it going, even when it's not perfect : )

@@teachmetotalk Thanks Laura. I am implementing your advice. I wanted to buy The Apraxia Workbook 1. Can you suggest any Indian (Delhi)shop where I can buy it from. I tried in Amazon India. But it is not there. Importing from USA may take quite some time.
