A narrated walk through the gardens, June 12, near Wilmington, Delaware. Details: we have been here for 23 years, starting with a blank canvas (new construction in the woods). We have over 500 named hosta cultivars plus some of my own seedlings, along with dozens of ferns, epimediums, Japanese maples, and daylilies (plus many other oddities). For more information on growing hostas, visit our local hosta society website, www.delvalhosta.org/hosta-info.

@@davidteager It’s just incredible, the variety of greens is so calming along with the bird song. Can I ask about the forest, what type of forest is it? I’m not familiar, I’m guessing they’re some sort of deciduous tree. Truly inspiring thank you for sharing it.

This is such a stunning tour. I think I’ve watched it at least five times in the last couple of months. I hope you give more tours. Like, maybe a couple in the spring and a few throughout the summer to see how things come on and how they age.

You have created absolutely beautiful shade gardens! I’ve enjoyed this video tour so much, I must have replayed it dozens of times. I do hope you will do another video garden tour this summer! I am a shade gardener as well and enjoy the peaceful, lush foliage you can get in the shade. It’s easy on the eye and is my serenity. Wishing you the best with your seedlings. Maybe someday they will be available for sale. Happy gardening! 😊 🌱☀️

There are lots of ferns that should be hardy for you (as they are for us). Japanese painted ferns (and their hybrids) work especially well with hostas. Autumn ferns (look for one called 'Brilliance') are also great.
